just some considerations:

1) budget? $80 to $100
2) any prior experience with bordeaux? yes but not expert
3) do you have proper storage equipment/facilitiesyes
4) have you had any experience with aged wines? (at least 10-15 years old; because not everyone may like the taste of aged wine because it will lose a lot of fruit but other complexities will come about) no experience

reputation and scores are one thing, but as with food and everything else, our preferences are subjective. it would be good for you to get a good understanding of what style of wine your palate enjoys and buy more wines that go with that style; keeping in mind palates will changes over the years.

I can recommend you good producers within your parameteres above but it is ultimately your palate that will decide which ones you prefer over others.

only recently drinking bordeaux but open to new world wine as well, if super duper good.

TIA

Bought a 2011 Petaluma Hanlin hill Riesling from FP finest at clementi. Traditionally a heavyweight coonawarra producer, it makes a mean Clare valley Riesling from their wholy owned hanlin hill parcel.

Like more good clare Rieslings it is very ageable and it can come across as auster and a tad unapproachable; but will reward with extended aging.

It is currently on offer at $36.90 which is rather inexpensive. Will try it tonight and let u know.

Yeah I like dry Riesling and Petaluma produces very good Riesling that I always wanted to try. $36.9 looks a great bargain as it retails around AUD$25 - AUD$30 according to JH Wine Companion. But not too sure if I can find it from Tampines FP Finest.

Yes have seen the Petaluma Hanlin Hill around, but I've a few Clare rieslings I've yet to down - Paulett's (Wine Connection), Grossett Off-Dry Watervale (Hermitage sale) and Jacob's Creek Reserve (S. Australia, well-reviewed here)

Also read (Sunday Times) about a Donnhoff masterclass at Taberna and Selbach-Oster wine dinner happening this week, but the wines on show didn't seem very enticing.

Tried something new today, a Napolini Montefalco DOCG, 100% Sagrantino wine from Umbria that was very enjoyable. Paired with some pizza and pasta at Da Paolo Bistro Bar. Ruby-Red in colour, but not that opaque, you can see your fingers through the glass. Earthy fruitiness but with strong and nicely integrated tannins.

This being V-day week, also opened a few wines that I bought from Straits Wine Turf City:

- 01 Barolo Casa Molisso (Fossati, La Morra)
- 06 Brigaldara Il Vegro Valpolicella Ripasso
- 01 Château la Croix des Moines (Lalande de Pomerol)

While the Barolo was nice (and pricey), the Valpolicella and Bordeaux were both pretty good value at ~35 and ~17 (375ml) respectively. Ripasso wines are approachable and food-friendly due to their ripe, full yet dry characteristics, and this was a good example. While the Lalande de Pomerol had a very nice, expressive nose of blackcurrants, with excellent suppleness and texture on the palate. Had to let it breathe a good while though.

Just had a wines session at ES with my regular kakis drinking our shared bottles. All are matured and beautiful wines.

Every wines lover should at least tried once the aged wines of 20 years or even 30 years and above to appreciate how amazing a wine could age and develop. ;)

It’s a free wine tasting, stand up and you are the most welcome if you want to join us for this experience. However, I can’t ensure any seat or table for this event. *But, at least, be sure you will try all the different wines shown by the owner.
*
It will be a pleasure to see you on the 24th for our tasting.

After 9 years of aging Leeuwin is in its sweet spot of drinking. Compare to younger vintage I have tasted, this has integrated nicely and in a harmonies state while still retained good freshness with layers of pear and white flowers. Truly a lovely wines :)

had this yesterday: 09 Two Hands Angel's Share Shiraz.

Was at the Singapore Botanical Gardens with the girlfriend for picnic and music. Paired well with the rich 4 cheese pizza. The wine had loads of fruit, spice, pepper and a touch of vanilla on the nose. Not utterly complex but well made and delivering lots of flavour.

It was also paired with the lovely music of the USAF Band of the Pacific Hawaii; an hour of lovely hits from "mustang sally" to Katy perry
