Heh, sorry you all didn't like the Ashbrook. I'm not a fan of the Shiraz but like the Cab Merlot. Enjoyable though rather simple. Maybe I've not tried much good Aussie stuff. I still find it more interesting than WB Yellow Label, Wyndham Estate etc. entry level wines.

Capricci, nice! I was there for Restaurant Week and they are nice and hospitable. Corkage is 30 bucks. There's this waiter from Puglia that knows a bit about Italian wines so it was nice to talk to him. He was the one who recommended the Cervaro della Salla by Antinori, a Chardonnay with token amounts of Grechetto, around Orvieto. I liked their homemade paccheri with Italian sausage, porcini mushrooms and parmesan cheese sauce when I tried it at the Wine Restaurant Experience last year.

maybe i should try the cab merlot then..

My dear knowledgeable wine loving friends,

Anyone knows where to find this beautifully crafted Moscato?

Castello del Poggio Moscato D'Asti

Opened one bottle at my home during a wine appreciation lunch.. Had beautiful floral nose with notes of honeysuckle, dates, peach and pear.. All the guests loved it but I cannot recall where I got it from!!

Thank you in advance.

I'm getting Moet or VC already so Muscadet sounds good.
Do recommend which Muscadet, Burg and Bordeaux is nice.
Really appreciate your input. Do hope to join your wine dinners soon.

if u are going for a sparkling, i find the regular Moets & VCs are overpriced. u can try going for the 2007 Sieur d'Arques Blanquette de Limoux Premiere Bulle Premium Brut. Sparkling wine from the region where sparkling wine originated from. u can get it from 1855 Bottle Shop.

As for muscadet, it could be a bit difficult in hindsight as the merchant needs a minimum purchase of 12 bottles. But from the Loire, you can get a Vouvray instead. Surprisingly the Marks & Spencers Vouvray is very delicious and well made ($30+)

as for burgs/pinot noir, you can try to contact Wine Exchange Asia. just drop them an email saying you are looking for a good new zealand pinot noir between $50-$100 that's ready for drinking now. For burgs u can visit ToTT's gourmet store: Toque, along Bukit Timah Road, i think they may be having a burg discount. You can also get good spanish stuff there. Lookout for La Rioja Alta.

as for bdx, you can check with frenchwine.com.sg and enquire for some aged stuff.

the Il Chiuso last night showed very well

https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=1083740

who would have thought a 50/50 pinot and sangio blend would work so well?!

i believe Enoteca in Taka basement sells the Il Chiuso, but definitely not at the price when i bought it from the estate itself.

bought it at the cellar door for about $25 SGD. it's one of those wines that u can drink by itself also and will evolve in the glass.

Sorry abit OT, but I found this nice beer shop in a quiet corner of Clementi. Same row as the shop where they sell supplies for you to make your own beer. They've a good selection of unique, small brewery beers and tasting sessions on Saturdays - like wine!

Which part of clementi? Sunsetway?

The Il Chiuso sounds nice. I think it was about 50 bucks at Enoteca? Still their cheapest wine though...I have tried Fontodi's pure Pinot and wasn't really blown away. But I've tried a nice Barbera + Pinot blend at the same estate at the passito I brought the other day. That was nice but it sort of made sense because they are perfectly complementary varietals.

Reign, sorry forgot to include the contact: Brewers? Craft. You know Ave 2 Sheng Siong there?

Hmm I've seen this around, albeit a year or two ago.
Can try Carrefour or bigger Jason/Marketplace/CS stores, the brand is under the Zonin conglomerate that you see around often at Cold Storage.

Hey guys!

St Clair is one of the better producers in NZ (imho).

Cornerstone wines is currently having a promotion after St Clair won a couple of awards recently: http://www.cornerstonewines.com/pdf_files/Saint_Clair.pdf

I am planning to buy a few bottles. If anyone of you are interested in getting a few bottles (their SB is of fantastic quality.. really good..) we can band together and get a better discount.

Do let me know within the week if you're interested.

Thanks.

Anyone going down to the Magnum Wine Fair on Sat?
Or the Brovia (Barolo) tasting at 1855?

Am also keen on the Pio Cesare tasting at Crystal Wines on 16 Jun.

Not going for any this weekend. I have a wine lunch on sat. Theme: old world whites; I hope someone brings a tondonia :). I am bringing the '99 Les Genets Savennieres that I bought recently. I was thinking of bringing my hermitage blanc but then that would be predictable.

sigh...decided to jog during lunchtime to pick up my '99 Frescobaldi Lamaione (100% merlot from the Montalcino region - the same Castelgiocondo that they make their Brunellos from).

it was drizzling so on the way back the plastic bag slipped out of my hands and smashed on the floor :( sigh..... managed to get a deep smell and barely a sip. it was really really nice; a beautiful merlot.

Am sure all the brothers here can feel it.
Rain and flimsy plastic bags... scary ****.

From the Crystal Wines sale?

And 99 was an outstanding vintage in Tuscany.
