Cool so I will set it as a following:

White Rhone & Syrah/Shiraz Session
Starter whites: Must be a white wine from any country but made from Rhone varietals

Reds: 100% Shiraz/Syrah or at least 95% Syrah/Shiraz blend (ie: Cote Rotie adds about 5% viognier to their syrah).
Wines can be from anywhere in the world.

Great. Now we need 3 more pieces of info to proceed:
1. Venue : Somewhere with heavy red meats, perhaps?
2. Date :
3. Price : Under $50? $50 to &70? Or $70 and above?

location & date: dunno yet.

for price I am proposing, $50 and up for the reds. $40 and up for the whites. so at least we can reduce the risk of plonk. if you can some syrahs/shiraz or whites with some age on them that would be good too.

Need help!

Hi all,

I need some help on finding 1 red and 1 white wine. The wine should have similar content as that stated below. Anyone can advise which wine will fit the most? Vintage is not a issue. If possible, please let me know the cost and where I can make the purchase.

The red wine should be from Bordeaux region and the grape consist of 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc.

The white wine can be any wine for the old world region. The grape consist of Sauvignon Blanc.

Been searching on the Internet, but not able to find much info. So hoping the gurus here can help out. :)

Merlot dominant? Looks like a right banker to me.
Any reason why this particular blend? Also what's your budget?

young is fine, as long as they are below market price. buy them young at a low price and let them sleep in your wine fridge or wine storage for a couple of years and be rewarded later.

u don't always have to buy old wines.

let me look thru the list after work.

Thanks for the link, yes the prices are attractive indeed, though some of the vintages may not be the best ones. But then again, that's where a lot of value can be found.

I think the 2004 and 2006 are good buys for the Bordeaux listed here, which come from many St Emilion - including the infamous 'garage' wines - Fronsac and Pessac producers. For the Italians, there are many Barbera options from small producers, albeit from the weaker 2002, 2003 vintages. In these cases, you've really got to have faith in a good producer.

Hi looi, didn't see your reply to my last PM couple weeks back. I didn't get your funds transfer. Did you check with your bank if the amount was deducted? Did you get my account number correctly?

ikileo, I also didn't get your SMS or reply to my PM. Did you transfer the bill for the last session to my account?

Hi ikileo,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Trying to find a similar "cheaper" wine to match with. Budget is about $20.

woah $20 for a bordeaux in SG, to be honest, it's rather difficult. the number of bordeaux wines under $30 is already few and far between; especially if u want a decent one.

u can consider upping the price?

Hi ikileo,

Sorry. Din know that Bordeaux is so expensive. I guess I will have to leave the budget open, maybe below $40. Please help to recommend a Bordeaux wine with grape consist of 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc.

Thanks!
