I just saw this, makes me wonder if its worth spending so much on earbuds with AptX and still get poor latency on a local Samsung Exynos phones if high latency is a concern.

A few comments on the video.

Qualcomm aptx tws is not the only one that supports instant switching. Airoha chips also support it, Sony wf-1000xm3 and Panasonic rz-500w can do instant switching and they both use airoha chip. Realtek chip also does instant switching now, the soundpeats true free 2 does it despite it using the same chip as the original true free earbuds.

Not mentioned in the video, china phones are notoriously bad at AAC codec bluetooth encoding. I have the poco f2 pro (same as redmi k30 pro), AAC on it sounds extremely compressed, especially highs where it sounds very "swishy". So much so I use SBC on the poco f2 pro phone as it sounds much better than AAC on that phone. AAC on Samsung sounds way better. So if your earbuds supports up to AAC only and using on redmi/poco phones, good luck with the poor sound quality.

Both exynos and snapdragon note 20 ultra don't do aptx tws. I have used both versions. So his claim of "lucky regions" that get the snapdragon version get aptx tws is false. The snapdragon version still does master/slave, as only one earbud name appears in the list of bluetooth devices. This may be a deliberate decision by Samsung to minimize the usage experience between exynos and snapdragon models.

I also find Qualcomm tws mode connection to be weaker than master/slave connection, especially when walking in crowded places like shopping centres. Using Sony Xperia 5 phone with the Aviot te-bd21f and m&d mw07 go in tws mode, walking with them in funan mall, the drop was so severe that I thought the earbuds were faulty. The I paired them with Samsung phones and the connection was much more stable with almost no drops.

After my QCY T5S gone case due to problem when upgrading firmware, I switched back to my Airpods

Yesterday received Mpow X3 and is satisfied with it. It is comfortable even wearing for long period, similar as Airpods. ANC works fine, good actually. Very effective in blocking noise in MRT. At $60, this is absolutely a no brainer to get.

I feel it's about the same as Sony in terms of noise cancelling. The Sony has a more consumer oriented sound while the Panasonic is more precise and accurate. I like the Panasonic more as it has all the control features on the buds. Sony need to choose between noise cancelling or volume control. Panasonic also smaller than the Sony.
