have been using the Soundcore A40 for last 3 years. Recently stopped using it for around 3 months and the battery seems to have totally deteriorated. Only able to charge to 70%, and dropped to 0% in 1h.

is this normal, for the battery to have deteriorated after 3 years or a few months of non activity?

can recommend me replacement in similar class?

yes. lithium battery will deteriorate if you leave it in low charge state for long duration.

if you are not using it, charge it every 2 weeks, remove earpiece from case and put it back will trigger the charging.

have u tried cheaper models?

pricing has dropped gradually, can consider something like moondrop space travel 2

new model, but reviews are available online, below $50

stem design though, not sure if u wish to continue with bud design like a40

Indeed blame myself for neglecting this A40 and forgeting to charge.

Am definitely open to cheaper models. Still need the anc since I am subject to mrt noise though, open to stem design.

Will check out moondrop models, but does their charging case, seems somewhat large?

I been using my A40 constantly but recently battery life quite bad too. Just 1 trip back home from kovan to punggol, already dropped to 10%. I think the buds not charging even when back in the case

Looking out for alternative but the recommended airfun ear pro 4 is quite ex imo

Got the Cambridge audio melomania a100. Extremely comfortable in ear. Using on Samsung s25 ultra with ldac, overall sound signature is smooth and warm with realistic timbre. Soundstage has good width left and right, front and back not so much. ANC is pretty good, probably just a notch below the top dogs. There's a bug with the ambient noise control, it changes to ANC off everytime the buds are put back into the case. Battery life on ldac with ANC is about 5+ hours at reasonable listening volume. The case is very compact, about the same size as the Sony xm5. The lid opens up to 90 degrees only, which makes extracting the buds from the case a tad tricky.

Excellent value for money, near flagship performance at below flagship price.

Got any recommendation for best ANC that can cancel out conversations like somebody talking right behind you while seated in the bus? Airpods pro ANC used to be top tier and can really cancel out those conversation "noise" but they went to nerf it for safety issue.

Only Bose quiet comfort ultra can do it.

couldn't find a replacement for the great sound quality of Soundpeats H1 and Engine 4. Sonic HS sounded terrible compared to it.
So recently bought and tried Soundpeats Air 5 Pro at cheap price of $69. Supports LDAC, AptX Lossless. Really value for $. Sound signature very different from H1, but not unpleasant. Mids are very forward, and quite liked it esp for watching videos with lots of dialogues.

But i still miss H1 sound signature, afterall it's quite different with dual drivers (armature +dynamic) and the sound stage really nice.
So bought another pair of Anker Liberty 4 Pro since it also has dual drivers, whereas the new liberty 5 only single driver. Usual price around $170, but managed to get at $123 after vouchers.
Casing and features v impressive.
Only supports LDAC though, no AptX.
Default sound is very very bass heavy. Had to adjust using their apt.
Noise-Cancellation is v good. But somehow i still think lose to H1 a bit. Liberty 4 Pro treble not sharp enough for me
But overall still good.

PS: SoundPeats Engine 4 (dual dynamic drivers) actually sounded better than H1. But size a little big, so may feel uncomfortable to some. The pair I had came with disconnection issues, so gave up after a while. The sound will also suddenly become muted then come back after a few secs even when im just next to the bluetooth transmittor.
But I will discourage anyone from buying old models that are discontinued. I bought an extra pair of H1 and left the box unopened until months later. When I opened it, the earbuds are dead. Casing has power, but the earbuds turn on, then immediately off after 3 secs. Cannot connect to anything at all.
Maybe the earbuds batt went flat for too long.
U same taste as me.. I love h1 also.. Do u know the h3 is out?

just ordered " baseus bp1 pro anc " on shopee for $19.90.
scarbir also?

I bought too. Honestly, its not as impressive as the review. The transparency is quite weak, ANC need to use the app to customise for slightly better noise cancellation. The touch is extremely sensitive. For the price, I am ok to forgive the above.

I bought it because my 1.5 year-old soundcore liberty 4 nc stopped to work.

I don't expect it to perform as good as liberty 4 nc, which has good sound and excellent ANC.

Out of the box, bp1 pro is disappointing. Especially ANC.

Nevertheless, after changing the eartip and set up customer EQ, the sound is good and the ANC is acceptable. Of course still a gap if compared to liberty 4nc.

I would say it is a good buy even at the original price of $40.

I been listening to soundpeats H3 since I got it ard 5pm... Using Ldac @990kbps.. With 2 x BA + 1 12mm dynamic driver.. This is the best Bluetooth Earbuds I hear so far for the price point.... It extend the nice sound of H1 with more details and more spacious audio. Bass is tight and not bloom type. Need to use the soundpeat app to play around the EQ else is default adaptive EQ.. SQ could be haywire.. ANC doesn't work as well as Sony wm4.. However the earbud can go in much deeper.. I using my favorite Jvc spiral dot tips + memory foam mod so plus the not so good ANC still can block reasonable noise. . Tried Aptx adaptive.. Sound is more fun and slightly louder but not as detail ad LDAC.. How do u guys set APTX Lossless? Under developer I only see APTX HD and adaptive.

Aiya.. really tempted to get it at $112 but have too many now. Still seldom using the Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro and mainly using the Soundpeats Air 5 Pro. Have to wait for one of them to spoil first lol

AptX Lossless is subset of AptX adaptive, so enable adaptive should do it.
But have to make sure good reception or it will auto drop 1-2 levels down.

Yeah heard from others said adaptive is lossless also.. But I try ldac at 990 not turning back.. Infact this using BT5.4 the connection at so high resolution still very stable even when I place phone on living room and go kitchen toilet.. Other BT at 990 sure drop connection
