Does it have PTZ and optical zoom too?

Boss,

MARIX told me that they will be supplying new batch of VStarcam in Singapore with all new 150 degree wide angle lens, but dun know when. And existing owners can top up a modest fee to do a replacement for the LENS to wide angle. So, just keep a look out for the notification at their blogspot, parallel importers can eat grass liao at the pricing they are offering now on promotion.

This applies to all their PTZ cameras less the T7850WIP & T7833WIP (Outdoor ranges) which lens size is bigger. So, which means that based on pricing, pan/tilt ability, upcoming wide angle factor, etc, their camera will still stand out on the crowd.

Optical zoom wise, boh news loh... Seems that all their housebrand IP cameras are on hold due to their recent bought over by MNC to expand their business...

I maybe wrong but Foscam, like some of the other brands (Aztech, Sineoji, VStarCam, Trendnet etc) are based off OEM designs. As such, you can probably do better (ie cheaper) with other models here in Singapore. At the end of the day, it all boils down to price points and service levels for these OEM designs.

Agreed. Some of these brands are able to perform same or out-perform. but ultimately, its your choice of selection.

You can try to re-flash the firmware and set the motion detection to 1 (most sensitive). On my end, after re-flashing, it works to overwrite the previous recordings when full

You can try it.

Sadly nothing seem to work.. and to make it worst.. it has stop recording since 2nd Oct and I need some video recording but I have nothing ... I'm now not too sure if my memory card was full ...

This is damn frustrating that Matrix don't seem interested in resolving their last firmware bugs ...

Camera suddenly cannot work

Hi,

My parents are using Singnet fibre and Foscam F18918W and aztech router. Every few weeks the ip address will change and I will manually update the ip address for them as they do not know and have no laptop.

Just today the ip address I assumed have changed. So I went to update for them using noip (DDNS). For the 1st time, it does not work anymore. I do not know why. It has worked for the last few times.

I am thinking is it the http port suddenly closed (is it possible)? Or if noip stop working? I am using their free account as I only need 1 host name.

Anyone can help on this? I only have elementary networking knowledge and this is beyond me!

Thank you. Need to monitor my age old parents.

I used to have Singnet copper last time and always face this problem every few months now and then with changing of the IP address on Singnet side. Well, free dynamic service is like that unless you are paying for a static address.

Now I use those cloud service provided by the camera manufacturer. I'm using SAMSUNG IP cameras and when their server is to be maintained they'll inform you in advance through their camera application

Foscam not working - Using noIP

if you are using noip free services, you need to login to so called 'activate' your account every 30 days. They will send you an email every month.

Maybe check your email spam folder, the reminder could be there.

Hope this is help.

Hi,

Activate means have to update ip address every 30 days right? I have updated just 3 weeks ago. If so it should not be an issue. I also have created a new account and it still didn't work =(

Anyone using noIP free account?

Thanks in advance!

I am using the No-IP free account. I use the router (mine is the Asus AC series) to pass the dynamic IP address to the DDNS.

Hi,

Planning to change to M1 once current contract is over. M1 is the only ISP so far to offer static for household. Are you using this samsung IP using singnet?

Hi,

Sorry can you elaborate?

For what I do is I google on a normal browser to check what is the current IP address and then I copy and paste onto the noIP.

After it is updated, I will be able to see. How is my steps different from yours?

Appreciate a reply =)

Dear Doran,

Would you be able to give us your mobile contact via email? We would like to remote assist you on this to check your camera as well.

For me, my router (Asus AC router) has a DDNS option. Each time the router is rebooted, when a new IP address is assigned by the ISP, the router will then handle the update of the IP address to the DDNS name. I know GR7000 Aztech router has a DDNS option, but not sure if it support No-IP DDNS. You can try that out by going to the Admin pages of the router.

The alternate method is to use a Dynamic DNS Update Client. No-IP has such a client... go to the download page. The only downside is that this client needs to be run (on a PC) within the private network at least once after a new IP address is given out by the ISP (e.g. after the router reboot).

If you are on fibre, ViewQwest also offer static IP address for household. Nevertheless, if you only require IP camera access, a dynamic one is good enough. Alternatively, there are those zero setup cameras/cloud based cameras that you can try.

Actually, what sort of recording are you doing? My continuously recording is working fine. So, if you are on motion detection only, and you think it is not working, turn on the continuous recording and you won't miss anything.

This is at least the workaround you can consider at the current moment til VStarcam comes out with a new firmware upgrade. BTW, you are using 48.2.64.214 or?
