You may consider our T7821WIP-R-W with built-in PIR sensor on the camera. a 32GB MicroSD Card can record up to 3~5 days depending on resolution chosen.

Yep I know. Asking about IP camera in general. A PoE switch will do too right?

I am just looking for a basic home based security solution.

Wondering if anyone got any feedback/comments/reviews about the cameras or any other wired IP cameras with good quality image and stuff

Quality of image is more of a function of the sensor, which is generally identical between wireless camera and wired cameras. Firmware might help with things like sharpening/noise reduction etc. but the sensor is still the main determinant of image quality. Thus the difference between wireless and wired would simply be the ethernet connection. Wired connection might be only up to 100BaseT rather than 1000BaseT, so if you are comparing say a wireless IP camera on 802.11n, or a wired IP camera on 100BaseT, then the speed difference (smoothness of movement seen) might not be that great. Of course wireless is often subject to signal interference, especially when using the highly congested 2.4 GHz band. I haven't seen any 5.0 GHz band wireless IP camera though, perhaps because the range would be shorter. Also, I only know that Dlink having 802.11ac wireless cameras (but not yet available in Singapore).

Any particular brands of wired ip cameras I should look at?

T7838WIP

I have a couple questions:

1) About security of Eye4 software or even any IP cam software - the 1st time I download software and everytime I upgrade the software, I have to accept some conditions
- that I must allow them access to my gallery (delete photoes and such)
- access to my phone book and other infor etc etc
- allow them to turn on/off wifi etc etc etc
- and some more, I forgot what......
So, sorry for my ignorance (I have just started going into such techy), how secure are we talking about, when whoever that is, is monitoring our every move, via our mobile devices, via our IP cam cos I do notice picts that I didn't take via my IP cam is appearing on my hp.

2) I have set the IP Cam to record motion and at low quality. After recording for 5 1/2 days, with available space of 29gig in sdcard, it stopped recording entirely. The recording is set to stop recording at the end of a specific num of days automatically? or until the sdcard is full?

Thanks for any help or enlightenment.

Any particular reason why?

Strictly my opinion (and hence not very scientific).

Most of the cameras seem to be targeted more at the enthusiast crowd. Panasonic, on the other hand, seems to focus on cameras more for corporate network environment (home networks seldom have PoE, for example).

Do a firmware upgrade and reformat your microSD Card. This should help.

wow, judging from the prices of IP cameras in sitex. prices have plunged quite alot

those looking for Samsung Techwins, can be found at a booth in front of D-Link.

free 32gb microsd from Kingston on the spot for individual units bought, don't need to go to distributor in Ubi to redeem.

believe Jiaying Trading on Level 2 been around longer. very good advice from Thomas never upselling me higher end models I may not need.

Jiaying is okay. Bought my IR illuminators from them. But I still prefer Mediapro because they have other networking equipment. Bought my first Zywall 10 from them, plus most of my other IP cameras.
