if wired still disconnected. More like routing issue over network... it may not b the camera. Could b your router or even the IP address range (external) that you are having

You can use a web browser. On IE, it uses ActiveX. I believe it also support non-IE browser though.

Gonna buy a cheap IP camera Foscam FI8910W to monitor my pet at home. Anyone bought from Taobao before? Is the software in Eng or Chinese?

Edit: Taobao sellers selling RMB350 for English version (excluding shipping). Bought from Groupon at $91.90 in the end.

Wow. Didn't know a camera can measure how humble you are. :D

I think you mean humidity. Haven't seen any cameras with this function before.

sorry, I don't quite understand, pls elaborate ? I use google chrome and how to see the camera ?

Your previous question could mean one of two things:

1) How to access the video stream of a camera using a PC
2) How to access the video stream of a camera using a PC when you are outside of your home network.

My previous answer was for (1). You either use Internet Explorer (which uses ActiveX) or you use a browser such as Chrome. Aztech camera support browsers other than IE. Other cameras (e.g. Linksys WVC-200) support only Active X.

If you are looking to do (2), then it can be a fairly lengthy process. First, you need to set up a dynamic DNS service, which 'assigns' the IP address given by your ISP to a URL. You then need to configure portforwarding on your router. Some of the first few posts on this thread shows how to configure portforwarding on the DIR-650 (old router I had). Principle should be the same for newer routers.

Maybe what it means is that setting up the IP camera causes u to be humble and there fore is a form of humility measurement

Thks you very much, Dr_ARCHer, yes, I mean no. 2 as I want to access the ip camera using laptop outside of my house. You really give a clear description but it seems that it is beyond my knowledge. I think I would stick to using smart phone to monitor the ip camera.

so far, what i appreciate on the zafego is the 2 way audio, clear but maybe a little bit soft for my preference. its not like vstarcam which is press talk n then press listen. audio recording n playback, better than vstarcam in term of drag playback n audio continuity on mobile app. clear recording, easy to use app and 1 thing, there is no such thing as relay mode. u see as long as you like. with onvif as well. more details once i test some more. a new app which allows u to download microsd card recording to mobile is gonna release at the end of this month for testing. wish them (marix) all the best.

Hi all,

I'm looking around for an IP camera for the purpose to use it as a Baby monitor.

Here are some functions that I am looking at:
1. Able to Zoom, pan and tilt
2. Able to attach a wide angle lens
3. Able to activate live feed when noise is detected (Baby crying noise and not background noise)
4. Day and Night vision
5. Have the option to access it when outside the home environment (with static IP on a mobile phone).

Is there such camera around and where to purchase it?

For baby monitoring, audio detection is important. You should test the cameras yoursef before you buy, check for false alarms like fan noises.

Many brands claims baby monitoring but you will b disappointed.

I have used baby monitoring before from philips. They do sell those tat detect sound n the parent unit turns on when it detects sound changes. But no visual to see. Its more accurate n you wake up less often due to false alarms

IP cameras for baby monitoring still have a long way to go at this moment

Foscam, EasyN, Dlink can be used for baby monitoring. Unless you need to activate by baby cry, all can be used.

Anyone faced with dead Foscam IP Cameras?

FI8918W - Dead with red led fully lit, plug in lan cable no reaction, reset no reaction. (Power supply issue I think)

FI9821W - Dead with red led fully lit, lan led keep blinking, reset no reaction, upon booting, camera keep tilting like it's being reset. Happens after a power failure.
