Hi guys,

Can recomend me a good PTZ IP cam to monitor maid + baby?

Is it true that the home network needs to be set to static IP for the IP cam to work ? I am on singtel's 2wire router and i am wondering how to port forward if i do not set static IP.

Hi,

You should use static IP for your IP camera, so that when cameras are
restarted, the IP remains the same and router knows where to forward the
port to... For 2Wire, port forwarding is located at the FIREWALL page.

There is a field for you to manually key in the IP address and then select your user-defined rules (port forwarding) to it.

U need optical zoom for your camera?

Anyone tried IP cam from ipcam.com.sg ?
Theirs could record to SD card but relatively slightly more expensive in the 300+ range.

Something like the B series (Cash list price = S$149) would probably suffice. It has pan-and-tilt, but no optical zoom. The image is very sharp, and it supports viewing in the dark with its built-in IR illuminator and IR cut filter. If there is any downside, it does not support preset viewing positions (if I remember it correctly).

I'm on Singnet. I set my 5012NV to bridge mode, and use the RT-N56U as my router. On the RT-N56U, I set up the virtual servers to redirect all the WAN requests to the corresponding LAN IPs of the cameras. I've also done it on the DIR-655 before. I use the DynDNS updater on my laptop now. Previously, I have also used the DDNS function on my RT-N56U.

Yes I did. 100% working for me.

Foscam FI8918W with Singnet fibre (the black modem) and a laptop running dyndns software for regular IP updates. Using netcamviewer on iPhone and IP cam viewer on Android for regular viewing outside home.

The Foscam came with a port forwarding manual. A bit of inaccuracy but as long as you understood port forwarding concepts, should not be a problem.

For FOSCAM can the Night vision be turned off? particularly the IR LEDs, i'm using it for pet monitoring so i don't want the Infrared to be on all the time and damage my dogs' eyes.

On my mobile app, I can see an image, but from browser, I get a login failure. Hence, can't provide any review yet. I might just get a second set to compare if there is any issue. Funny thing is I can get to the config sccreen, but everytime I go to the image screen, I get the login failure error.

DR_ARCHer, any update on your review on this? I am quite keen to get this for his 720P HD resolution.

Hi,

You can actually use the DDNS feature on FI8918W to set the DYNDNS so
that you do not need to have your Laptop running all the time you know?

You just need to ensure that you use different ports on the WAN side i.e.

your.ddnsurl.here:12345 port forward to 192.168.0.5
your.ddnsurl.here:12346 port forward to 192.168.0.6

where 192.168.0.5 and 192.168.0.6 are the LAN IPs of your IP cameras.

Does this able to record on NAS other than the memory card? Especially remote recording.

Hi, we've tested both QNAP & SYNOLOGY NAS, both NAS are able to record from the camera. However, you can't set the recording from camera to remote NAS yet. The development team says they are still working on this portion.

Apologies for the misprint of information for H6837WI. The device is running on Wireless-B/G, not N. Thank you bro geckoSG for pointing this misprint of information out.

The demo URL is up tonight!
