hi guys...

got a maid coming and looking to setup a wireless ipcam/cctv system at my house.

may i tap all the pros here for their recommendations?

1. looking at abt 4 cameras (pan-able)
2. preferably i can record to a NAS (any brands to intro? synology/qnap?)
3. access from mobile app (iOS)

read abt the good feedback on Sineoji..would this suit my requirements? colleague recommended vstarcam as well

Bro, will like to tag on to your post. I am using Vstarcam. Model is C7824WIP. The camera itself and app are working fine. However, I am trying to connect it to my Synology NAS DS214play. I was using Surveillance station 8.1 from Synology. Was able to see the camera details under the genetic ONVIF quick setup. However, when i click on the test connection, it failed.
The error is "Fail to receive video stream. Please open camera's UDP port in your router."

I do not know what I need to do about it. Anyone can help?

For me I use 9 Dlink PTZ IP Cam hooked on lan & WiFi recorded to Synology. (Maids knows how to Disconnect when they bring intruders to your house when ya not around/aware, one camera pointing to another is good to catch them in their mischief act.)

I don’t use e surveillance license from Synology because it lags and frankly I don’t need to.
I don’t know how vstarcam or sineoj works but to me I don’t trust tapping on public DDNS especially sharing ones in case ppl learn e activities of my house especially since it’s public. Albeit I do port forward for some area.
I pay for static IP, I think M1 is free, Starhub u can’t buy, so u can only connect 1 for external view.
I use owlr to view activities of my cctv.
For Synology prompting all that it’s probably due to your router port forwarding issues.
Also one thing I reboot my Synology on timer.
Most important: lock your Synology up.
When maid brings spore man, bangla man, your male neighbours to your house, these intruders will know how to trace out your password, clear your recording etc.

I suggest you go for the wide angle camera if you are going to have one monitoring the hall, so that no blind spots will be missed if the video footage is recorded. The rest such as the rooms, kitchen, a decent angle will be sufficient.

Basically all brands will meet your needs. If you want a no brainer, sineoji provides free installation including mounting of camera with the necessary trucking to conceal the wires at your doorsteps, so is a value add service IMO. You can record your footage to NAS and view your live footage from your android or iPhone.

I abstract some of the pics from sineoji website for your reference.

Yes, viewing your sineoji live footage using on 4G mobile data is incredibly fast and responsive. Almost no latency and the video is instant.

Need help......

The videos were accessible initially from the Sineoji app after I slotted in the SD card.

I went overseas for a week and just landed in Singapore. I am unable access the videos today and when I click on the SD card from Camera setting, it shows capacity of the SD card to be 0 MB. I tried to check on the SD card which was slotted into the camera and somehow I could not remove the SD card from the slot.

Anyone can advise me what I should do ?

Many thanks in advance.

You have to turn on the recording in the Sineoji app. Tap the little i symbol on the main page on the app, go to sdcard.. check the capacity of sdcard shown.

Turn on the recording time schedule. Save it.

After 30 minutes, check the recorded clips. Tap the multimedia button on the main page of the app. Select remote. Select your cam.

If you are using iPhone, do not not change the date range. Click search. Clips will be displayed below . Tap it to view the clips

Try powering off the camera and on it again. The go to the sineoji app to check the capacity of the sdcard to see if it detects your card.

If you want to remove the sdcard, be sure that you off the power of the camera before taking it out ya...

Try restarting the camera, if it still shows 0MB and you can't retrieve any videos there is a very high chance your SD Card is dead.

try reading the SDCard on ur computer instead

To remove the SD card, use your fingernail. as the slots are tiny and may-be in the way of the wireless antenna

Thanks for the advice.

Only 2 persons staying in my house ... me and my Son and both of us don’t keep long fingernails... lol.
Will try to get a girl next few days and borrow her fingernails to help with extracting the SD card

Just tried switching off and on the camera and it still shows 0 MB from the Sineoji app. Looks like the new SD card (1 month old) is dead

For the bros who are looking at wireless IP cam with Synology, I had gone my C7824WIP to work with Synology finally.

Must check the source path and the admin id/password with Vstarcam. Works fine with Synology now.

Bro, you missed one step.

If you are using iPhone, find what is the ip address assign to the camera.

Open up the sineoji app on your iPhone.
Click +
Lan search
CAM ID detected with the ip address shown (192.168.x.x)

Go to the chrome browser of your computer. Enter 192.168.x.x:8081
login username and password of your cam

go to settings, icon looks like a gear on the bottom corner of the screen.

Browse the page below, you will see format sdcard fat32. Click on it and select yes to proceed.

Wait for message until it says success.

For those using Sineoji with SD card.
I know that it is possible to view the SD card's videos using the sineoji app currently. But it is apparently, not possible to select the time frame (must select ALL) and not possible to forward or go to specific time frame on the videos whilst using the app (aka if 5mins interval), need to watch whole 5 mins on the phone without any ability to forward the vid.

Not sure if it is the case for you guys, can advise?

If so, can I ask, is there another way to view the SD card's videos remotely without physically removing the SD card and inserting into a SD card reader on PC to view the videos on the SD card.

Yes you can view the sdcard content without removing the card from the camera, just playback from your PC with fast forward.

Just enter the ip of the camera on your web browser.

e.g. if you camera ip is 192.168.1.10,

then enter 192.168.1.10:8081/sd

it brings you to the login page..

after logging in, you will see a root directory with a folder "record".

The contents are all in the folder, you can use VLC player to playback and fast forward.

By the way, I was in Brisbane last week, I accessed my sineoji cam from brisbane and amazingly, the video was so smooth, as good as viewing your video from your home wifi network in sg where your camera is.

Need to set up cameras at home.

During home renovation, i already run a power point and lan point (cat6) to the top corner of each room. All these lan points are linked back to my db where the router is

My initial thought was to buy hard wired camera and linked to recorder (to be placed in db cabinet)

Cameras > network switch > recorder > Router

Then live videos must be able to view over the air.

Any recommendation on how to go about setting up? and which brand is recommended?

Anyone know how to mount the IP camera on a shelf to maintain good angles. IP cameras get it angle best if we hang them on the bottom up, but if we can't mount, and can only place on desk/shelf, is there a way to fix the cam still?

Currently I'm tilting it and using scotch tape to secure it.

Use 3M double sided tape. Very strong and when remove, no stains.
