i gotten 3 vstarcam products for its spec, but each have their flaws and instability. Gonna try out foscam and see how it goes.

Surprising that you had lots of problem on the product. Mine have worked quite well as compared to the Foscam that I had tried on.

BTW, the Wrong Password is not something about just plain flashing firmware, it is something else to do with your UID. So it is a MUST to contact your resellers and/or distributors to resolve it.

A friend of mine had the problem and contact MARIX, since he bought it from them, they logged in remotely and resolved it for him.

I wanted to recommend you the ASUS RT-N66U or RT-N56U, but now I worry firmware of the router may not be stable.

I've just upgraded to the ASUS RT-N56U, but do not upgrade to the V3.0.xx firmware as there is some problem it seems with the wireless. My router keeps dropping all my devices wifi connection after a while and when I do a setup of my cameras using IP Camera Viewer Pro over the 3G, the router crashed several time.

I've just drop back my firmware to the 1.0.xxx firmware and will have to monitor if these things happened or not.

Just a quick update. Default firmware 1.0.1.8l will not have any problem for the ASUS RT-56U, it is more stable. Even my IP Camera works better on it.

Hi all, new to this thread and haven't really read through all of it. Would be good if you can give me some recommendations for the IP camera suitable for my use.

It is to be installed in a school room (approximately 5m* 8m) in order to prevent theft of equipment or misuse of the room. There are no blindspots except for the camera's own viewing angle.

So, I need the IP Webcam to be able to do the following (tell me if I really don't need any of the following, haha, just giving it a guess.):
1) Capture images periodically and when motion detected and send it to an email account.
2) Be able to work under dark conditions. (like at least able to see some shadows perhaps?)
3) Viewable from www, best if android and iphone app available.
4) Wi-Fi capable.

Any good and cheap recommendations? :) Thank you!

Care to share the flaws and instability that you encounter?

I got "wrong password" issue yesterday but I managed to resolve it. Another issue, when I log in using laptop, Android and iPhone simultaneously, the camera hangs and restarts itself...

so cheap? which shop?
For H6837WIP there are few shops selling online/offline, whether it's vstarcam or other brand or even unbranded, inside it's the same and uses the same softwares/tools/apps from vstarcam...

1) NTUC fairprice, brand: SLIX, S$169.90
2) LitoArk Employment Agency (what??!!), brand: could be OEM unbranded, S$150
3) Ace Gadget, brand: Ace Gadget, price stated on website: S$190. Surprisingly this guy is the one who get this model approved by iDA
4) Top Gadgets, brand: could be OEM unbranded, S$149.90 online price. Their offline shop is Papylon Enterprise Pte Ltd located at SLS Level 2. They also get this camera registered under iDA.

So the choice is yours :)

If you want good aftersales support, can look for MARIX. Any problem, they will assist you. They have experience setting up their cameras for schools, childcare centres, and retail shops. My office warehouse cameras were setup by them. My boss very happy about the clarity of the cameras.

Anyone knows what is the problem with this? I was able to view my camera via internet and mins later , I was unable to. I tried to log into the server 192.168.1.10 (eg) but I got the error:

nable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.105.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

since then I cannot view anything on my IP camera. I am using Edimax 7010ptn

Its a totally different term used. BTW, who's the THEY?

DDNS is just a dynamic domain name pointer to an ip that is forever changing daily, etc. Port wise, you need to set to open up, etc as it isn't being map on the DDNS server.

P2P or PnP, its something which they created which the camera auto finds
its way back to the cloud server with the ports open automatically so you need not do anything to be able to link back to the camera.

Its something like that... One is a cname pointer, one have all the details logged onto a cloud server so that your mobile app auto connect to the cam when u want to see. I may be wrong, but ideal somewhere there.

After records to my SD card is full, I will only see a black screen and it only happens recently. All the while its okay. The specs is impressive but when you use it, many things start to surface.

I think it is your firmware. U didn't report to your reseller? I'm sure they should have a fix for you. I've upgraded mine after MARIX notify me via email 1-2 months back to upgrade cos they discovered internally a firmware bug on webUI when they did testing.

Was discussing warranty stuffs with my expats colleagues. Would you buy an ip camera if there is an option to choose the warranty period? Like 1 month, 3 month, 6 month and 12 month (standard). Pricing will varies base on warranty period.

Would you want to buy if so?

Non-IT people would say, standard 1 year is good, while a few more IT-savvy would say, its ok to have short warranty for cheaper pricing.

What's your take?

Vstarcam T7838WIP activeX virus?

Installed my new T7838WIP and when I open IE Browser through IP Camera Finder it wants me to download ActiveX file ax-ts.exe and my security software (Webroot) says it is a security threat/root kit. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is it a false positive? Chrome works fine but no sound controls. Thanks!

The ai-ts.exe is downloading from: cd.ipcam.so/download/application/ax-ts.exe[/url]

Update

I loaded the ActiveX onto another computer (Windows 7/64) and it installs an add on to IE Browser called TODO. The camera interface now comes up with a black screen. The controls all work in IE Browser and the camera image is still perfect in Chrome so I know the camera is working. Anyone have any ideas about IE Browser. Only get VGA in Chrome. Thanks!
