May I know how to setup Vstarcam H6837WIP in Synology DSM's Surveillance Station?

It seems Vstarcam is not listed in Synology's supported camera list, and there's no guide online about setting it up.

Any guidance or help is appreciated, thank you~~

Aztech recently launched a HD version of their IP cameras.

WIPC408HD_main.jpg

Like most of the HD cameras, HD resolution is up to 1280x720. The WIPC408HD has pan-and-tilt features and supports IR cut filter. It comes with in-built IR LED illuminators.

Saw this at Fuwell, retailing at S$199.

I haven't come across any outdoor cameras that are on wireless. All the outdoor ones I have seen use a wired Ethernet interface.

now my H6837WIP UID belongs to other ppl! i can see the ang mo in server room

Tats why i ask u to send ur cam back to reseller to get it fixed, theres some duplicate in UID which causes this issue, MARIX already fixed their customers UID issue for such cases long ago.

Just bought one Dlink 5222L last 2 days @ $279. Setup is really as what they claim 1-2-3 so easy and it's done up & running. What I like best is the Advance Setting page, it's so clear that at the side it explain clearly to you of each section what it does & what's the changes it gotta be.

HD outdoors have for Vstarcam. Its covered in dome. Quite huge n support wireless N. Fixed angle if I'm not wrong. Saw at their website. But locate distributor only brings in indoor.

But maybe can ask them to bring in if there's demand or someone arrange a Groupbuy

That's because the IP camera age have changed, the trend now is using mobile device for surveillance while on the go, look at aztech, d-link, pro-link, etc. Everyone is going for mobile surveillance instead of web browser.

Its actually not troublesome, download APP, scan codes, key in password and you can see. That's how straight forward people want it to be.

ADMIN: The above does not just talk about VStarcam, it is a generalising of the technology of IP Camera at this age.

:s13:

Dr_Archer, so you bought the new Aztech HD camera? Care to do a review on it?

Can recommed a high end fixed ip camera for indoor use?

Camera must meet the following criteria

1) Fixed and small size like a square/rectangular compact-type
2) IR to 7m minimum for night/low light use.
3) Wide angle 70 deg (or more) horizontal angle for coverage and less cameras required
4) Run on H264/MPEG-4 compression format
5) MP camera
6) FHD preferably 1080p. Can consider 720p.
7) Runs on wireless 'n'

Apart from DLINK DCS-2230 (which is not available here) I seems not to be able to find one.

I need 7 nos. to replace my underspec and aging fixed ip cameras. Can someone recommend?

Thx

then how come foscam allow live demo over PC? its all running on IP and ports. Why cant they let PC to view and must insist on scanning QR codes and installing the app? Some more the app is not in google play store.

I understand all have moved to the new age, but since its all running on IP and ports, i don't see the need to just limit on mobile devices. laptops and PCs should also be allowed to view the live demo.

EDIT: aztech also allow live demo over PC. why must vstar be so secretive? cant they share the link and pwd?

The wireless IP camera market is made up of two types of IP camera manufacturers:

a) Those that design them (and probably make them too)
b) Those that use an OEM and simply rebrand them

Brands like Foscam, Vstarcam and Aztech generally use a common OEM manufacturer. Using a 3rd party app like Robert Chou's IP Cam Viewer Pro, you find that you can use another driver (e.g. Foscam) for your say Aztech. In the early days, even Dlink uses OEM cameras e.g. their DCS-6620G is the same as the LevelOne WC-2040.

And no, I haven't purchased the new Aztech HD camera... yet. I will probably do so, since one of my earliest IP camera (Linksys WVC-200) has just kicked the bucket, as did my LevelOne WC-2040 and my Edimax IP7010PTn.

Hmm...Foscam ipcam is not so popular as I thought. :s8: A few local owner only I guess.. not much extra information.. :frus:
FOSCam is actually popular in the States, in fact in Singapore many get em by recommendations from words of mouth and online and can get from some popular retail stores. For me it's reliable and cheaper for the same specs of what others is giving. I been supplying FOScam and there's many satisfied users.

Hi,

Anyone has successfully connect foscam 9821w with singtel 2wire router? I can see the ipcam locally but no luck when use my samsung s2 or other laptop.. :s11:

I recommend to use Static IP for remote viewing. Also u need apps to download.

It seems I could not configure it in Synology as the brand is not supported... Vstarcam forum does not have any info as well.

Reseller knows nothing about it as well.....

Could anyone please help? Thank you~~
