thanks bro. I was thinking if there was an easier way by logging in and viewing without any port forwarding.

I can't comprehend how my mobile can view with ease via an app but my com can't view. I could pan and tilt my IP camera on my andriod app.

few questions:
1. are you using the same computer at home as the one you're using in the office?
2. are you using specific application to view the camera or are you using the plug in?
3. if your android phone could use it, then your camera must be broadcasting your home network IP address to a server somewhere. Set an email notification when alarm is triggered and figure out if there's an address there that you can use to connect to your Ip cam.

from a : 2.5 days owner of an IP cam (Vstarcam :) ) - so my knowledge is limited.

Thanks for all the reply.

Leaning on the IP camera more as i believe more can be done compare to CCTV.
Anybody mount their IP camera on the ceiling? i.e. those rectangular shape one like D-link type?
Is the wiring very messy?

bro,

Just suggesting.. if you're looking at dlink and thinking mounting in ceiling, why not considering the fish eyes (6010L) - that one is round, non rectangular.

It looks pretty cool from pic, but doesn't have IR.

Some problem with Aztech WIPC408 HD

Hi all,

I recently got the Aztech WIPC408 HD, I have set up DDNS and port forwarding for the camera but it seemed that I can only occasionally access the camera remotely using the Aztech app. At other times, it is only at loading mode. I was able to access the camera remotely using a computer with no connection issue though. I am using dyndns for DDNS.

This brings me to another issue that I have, while I am accessing the camera using my computer browser. The screen size of the camera is very small. It is like the mobile screen size of my phone. I am just wondering if there are ways to make the screen large on my computer.

Thank you.

I bought the same camera from pc show, I only access it with public IP.
Tried accessing the provider site at http://<camname>.nwsvr1.com and cannot access. Have called tech support and left a message for them to contact me.

What do you mean when you mention public IP?

U guys means aztech'sHD camera is not fully PnP? Still need to port forward?

I am not sure about that cos this is my first time using a IP camera and I have quite a number of issue with it.

I hope someone will be able to guide me.

When I access the camera from my office. It seemed to be in mobile more and the viewing is the size of that of a mobile. I does not prompt me for an option to choose browser or mobile nor is there a button for me to switch between the modes.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Tats why i ask u to send ur cam back to reseller to get it fixed, theres some duplicate in UID which causes this issue, MARIX already fixed their customers UID issue for such cases long ago.

It juz show how "secure" this vstarcam is. Anybody might be watching u now without u knowing it.

Personal review on Vstarcam T6878WIP

Who: Limited experience user - 5 days
IT knowledge: medium (know enough to do port forwarding)

The good
1. order on Sunday evening and receive the product by Monday afternoon. Super quick response - very happy with that.

2. support quick reply. My very 1st email was answered in less than 10 minutes. The support team is committed to answer all questions , be it there's a solution or not

3. the free DNS comes in handy, as I believe dynDNS is no longer free. There are other simlar services, but dynDNS was the longest - so in a way more trustworthy.

4. camera perform as it should (record, pan, tilt, IR, trigger alarm, FTP, email alert)

5. Price is competitive. Very similar to Foscam though - but I decided to go against buying Foscam because there are so many problems reported in their forum.

The bad

1. Click sound when camera notice insufficient lighting. When IR is on and off, the sound is made. When I pan my camera across my room, the different brightness level triggers the IR on and off, hence the click sound is always heard. No use turning off the IR itself! The click is always there and support believes there's nothing can be done for this model.

Anyone using the same camera - are you having this ?

2. Motion Alert is trigger happy
Sensitivity is set from 1-10; with 1 being the most sensitive. It doesn't matter whether it's 1 or 10; the motion alert is triggered every 5-10 minutes. I thought that this is because the sun shine causes different coloration. BUT - even at midnight, this is still happening. From midnight to 6 am, there are 51 alerts. I set email notification and FTP. It's easy to get 250++ emails within 8 hours. The NAS where I FTP my pictures into, in the past 4+ days have 45000++ pictures.

Btw, there's no possibility to mark a rectangulare area for motion alert (at least not that I can find). Unlike the capability I see in Dlink 5222l

3. picture quality
I know this is 720p quality camera. I can view it, take picture with it - but quality is not that great. Don't get me wrong - i don't have bases to compare quality with other camera such as Dlink, Aztech or Foscam; so this is purely personal feeling.

4. delay between action and what's seen on camera
Compared to Foscam - based on youtube video by "awkwardHamster", there's bigger delay. You wave your arms and it take 0.5 second or more before you see the same movement. BUT -- honestly, the current speed is good enough for me. It captures fine.

5. Security is pretty bad
I use wifi - but my wifi password is clearly shown in the setting. If anyone manage to log into my camera; they can see it clearly displayed.

the webUI clearly stated the username and password in clear text. Again, very easy to capture on the network. Considering that i'm viewing the camera from outside home network, it's easy to sniff my admin/password to gain access to my camera setting and thereafter to my home wifi.

BTW - gain access to camera is enough for you to be able to control the camera and view my home.

6. Settings and configuration are messy
I don't know if I"m wrong. But certain settings can be found in the WebUI and some settings can be found in the "IP Camera Super client" (client running on PC).

Dr. Archer - seems you're the only one having multiple brand camera. What do you think of the Vstarcam that you recently bought?

I'm still working with Matrix support still on the alert trigger happy camera. They have logged it to the factory but factory says that this is normal behaviour.

It's useless to be notified 300 times a day when there're no actual movement. (note: I use my camera as security and place it to face the door hallway, so there's no movement, unless someone open the door).

Dr_ARCHer,

Can I ask you something regarding port forwarding and the Aztech WIPC408HD?

If I can access the IP camera remotely, using my phone or on another computer. My port forwarding is working properly right?

Do you have any issue trying to remotely view the Aztech WIPC408HD, like it only works in mobile mode and not the bigger size browser mode when using a browser?

Thanks a million.

Regards

That shows also why you shld buy from the right group of distributor n resellers. The local distributor once found out that such issue exists, already send out notification to their client to ask us to take note n contact them to rectify the problem.

Its how responsive the support for a product that makes people like me willing to fork out money to pay local distrbutors.

Of cos, like certain limitation whic their factory refused to rectify or change a features. There's nothing much local distributor can do about it.

Ardneh, dun depend on IP Camera Super Client to be same as the cameras' webui. It was never intended to, the SW is third party supplied n mainly uses for monitoring, many china manufacturer's just use it but not fully develop it to work with their own firmware.

Ardneh, on my T7838WIP I had to set the motion sensitivity to 5 to get it to stop alerting every time a cloud passed by. 10 seemed the same as 1. I could not get the FTP to post on alerts only. It would post at a set frequency but not on motion alert only. I turned off the FTP because it was overloading my FTP data limits. I am on the latest firmware update. The android app closes everytime I try to view an event.

Looking for a IP camera and have some queries on the Vstarcam models.

- what is the difference betweeen H6837WIP and H6837WI?
- for recordings to the SD card, can the format be avi, mpeg.. etc for play on media player/TV directly?

You can post all issues at VStarcam's BBS and see if they response. I'm gonna post 2 issues I encountered today at their BBS
