Just to share for those VStarcam owners who owns Synology NAS. It is possible to use the Synology's Surveillance Station to do RECORDING for VStarcam's T Series. I've tested this out with MARIX's engineers over 2 weeks.

The recording result is better than the H Series.

However, there is no audio at current moment. And control on the Surveillance Station will not work for the T Series. But if you had your mobile, you can still control your phone. So, basically you can just use the NAS for longer recording!

Hope this information helps! We are still verifying on the QNAP NAS.
Will update this information soon

Thought I update this thread as well for the benefits of others. VStarcam T Series can be recorded by Synology NAS but not for QNAP NAS. Video feed quality from Synology NAS is as good as the MicroSD Card recording itself.

Been searching for answer for Ip camera to NAS recording.. Recently i been deciding to go for conventional CCTV or IP camera..

I want to know if let say i purchase 8 ip cameras, how much storage i required to use for the NAS... How long i can backtrack to check the videos in the NAS storage? What is the format? My understanding conventional CCTV can at least archive for long time, say maybe a month ago etc...

Just wondering i should go for IP camera + NVR or IP camera + NAS.. Anyway i knw these doesn't come cheap as compared to normal CCTV..

I have a Synology DS 412+ and currently pairing it with Vstarcam T7837WIP. I have some issues with the Synology Surveillance Station with the vstarcam, first -- i can only get to record the MPEG coding via /videostream.cgi. Second-- with the MPEG recording, i do get glitching video...not only it records the glitching, it also introduces the glitching which i can see it via Android IP cam pro app and the OEM app by vstarcam. Once i disable the recording in Synology Surveillance Station, the glitching stops.
Is there a source path for H264 recording? Been trying to second guess the source path for H264to no avail....

Upgrade ur firmware on both cams n NAS. I think all cheap IP Cameras will produce "glitch" or "pause", as far as I saw the demos out there from diff brands.

If u see the demo clip from Marix, there is some "pause" during the turning of cam (reboot), how about Aztech, Edimax or DLink? Any owners can advise if your recording is smooth n didn't miss a frame?

Just sharing some info from my visit to Dlink and Aztech booth, looking for `bargains'...and not finding any. Bear with me as I'm a newbie in IP cameras.

As I read online tat Dlink IP cameras can record to Dlink NAS, dropped by their booth to verify....and was told only certain models have the ability, which is listed in their brochure(silly me..didn't read the brochure).

Next on to Aztech booth, looking at their WIPC408HD set on possibility of recording to NAS. As usual, talking to 3 sales persons produced different answers, from I don't know to Yes, can record to all NAS. The final ans I got(validated with one of Aztech Tech team) was that if the NAS have FTP.....can record. I'm a little sceptical of the ans as I think there is more to it.
Any thoughts from gurus here?

Btw, they hve a demo unit showing that it can record to Synology NAS(didn't take note of model).

The firmware on vstarcam is the latest release but not my Nas, don't want to rush updating the DSM 4.3 unless all bugs have been sorted out.
My other cheap Foscam 8918 performed flawlessly on the recording aspect with my synology Nas though.

I guess it is time for me to learn to set up NAS recording. Considering that I have QNAP, Thecus and Synology NASes at home, let's see if I can help some users here.

U can try VStarcam's T7837WIP @ Challenger. A HD camera with pan/tilt function. $149 members price.

Can record to MicroSD and play back over mobile APP. Recent Android APP update (Ver3.16) allows you to format the microSD Card over the mobile APP. Easy setup also.

Now looking forward to next week. Got a chance to test the 3xoptical zoom model with same PnP LIVE Streaming.

bro this vstarcam T7837WIP can view live feed from android phones?

Cos they allow u to define the frame rate, etc. synology totally no control over anything at all for vstarcam. I've dropped an email to synology also to ask for them to support the vstarcam. Lets see how it goes. I know marix had requested earlier but no one replied them.

Hope they reply to end users...

Wah.. Wats ur latest toy during this show?

Asus RT-AC68U. Singapore is the only country in the world to have launched this.

Camera-wise, wanted to try out the Prolink, but no time to go down to COMEX (other than just to pick up the routers on Thursday night).

Wah, you got it? Me only got the RT-AC66U upgraded from re-contracting my M1 fibre with top up. Still wondering if I should sell it or sell my 56U which I lost the receipt... Or use both to expand my network

Thanks. Well, my req'ments are pretty basics and most of the IP cameras in the budget range of below $150 from Vstarcam, Aztech and Dlink would meet most my needs:
To be more specific:
1. Pan and tilt camera with night mode
2. Recording ability to NAS and/or micro SD card
3. resolution min SD or 720P
4. Zoom(optional)
5. Easy setup
6. clear images viewed on phone.

As I've a DLink 320 at home....obviously a IP camera tat can record to NAS will be great to hve.

Hi everyone,

I am planning to install some IP cameras for my new house. Just wondering, can anyone recommend a totally wireless IP camera (no power cords or PoE)?

I like the netgear vuezone but the video quality a bit too low for my liking. Are there other alternative?

Hope to hear from you guys soon!
