Apple to apple comparison

* Yawns *

I had enough fun for now, gonna go back to more fun testing with new cameras for now. Will release a few more reviews later on several cameras which I will be laying my hands on.

Avoidance is the best option here. Or just purely distracting audience and diverting to prevent further embarrassment. Just be careful of making comments that you cannot back up. A slow brain always yawns.

Can you advise how come picture on your easyn site color seems discolored? I'm doing a comparison against the T series of VStarcam which geckoSG have done a review on, the image quality and color seems richer and sharper.

Also, can you advise the power rating of the cameras? Are these PSB approved for local use? How long is the warranty? What's the warranty term.

I may be keen to get 1 if it meets my needs. Also, how do you stabilize wireless connect? Most HDB estate 2.4GHz are congested.

EasyN model : F-M136 vs T-series

Hardcor?

Can you advise how come picture on your easyn site color seems discolored? I'm doing a comparison against the T series of VStarcam which geckoSG have done a review on, the image quality and color seems richer and sharper.

Also, can you advise the power rating of the cameras? Are these PSB approved for local use? How long is the warranty? What's the warranty term.

I may be keen to get 1 if it meets my needs. Also, how do you stabilize wireless connect? Most HDB estate 2.4GHz are congested.

The IR-cut feature is not available for F-M136 as this model is the lower end series. Due to night vision capability of the camera, the sensor also detects infra red without the IR-cut so this causes the discoloration.

EasyN H3 series will have this feature. I would recommend H3-137V or H3-187V which should match Vstarcam's T7837WIP and T7838WIP. It comes with 18 months warranty if you get from EasyN Singapore.

As for signal congestion issue in HDB,

1) I will for a start recommend that the received signal strength be at least 20dB above the limits (about -85 to -90dBm) when you setup wireless for the camera on PC, you can see this (eg -57) reading together with the SSID of the network. The number is negative and the reading of <-75 I would consider week. I just did a scan on my H3-186V and my neighbour's signal strength reading's are <-75. My own reading is -57 so I have enough margin.

2) The current reading of -57 I'm getting on my H3-186V uses a 3-inch type antenna that comes with the set. And the camera is about 10meters away from the router. Without moving the camera, I change the antenna to a 6inch type (5dBi gain) and the reading becomes -52. This is one way I wish to get a stronger signal.

3) Positioning of the antenna and the unit is also important. I will try to place the camera away from big metal objects like the fridge or noise generators like the TV, Florescence lighting and even the adapter.
Keeping the antenna away from the wall is also good.

4) Other methods I've tried, power line repeaters and wireless range extenders. All works. I don't have the model no. with me now. If you need this information, I can share. Please let me know.

5) Then we have the option of using wired connection with your IP camera.
Either by power line repeaters throught the RJ45 connector behind the camera.

6) Your question on PSB or Spring Singapore approved safety mark adapter, yes I know EasyN Singapore sells their camera's with this adapter. I've asked them specifically. The power rating is 10W, output 5V 2A. The maximum current I've measured is 1.5A with the motors running.

Appologise to Gecko. I'm actually going overboard here because EasyN is the only other brand of IP-camera I used besides D-link.
So Gecko, I'm sorry.

Hey Marix,
I saw the certificate of yours from VSTARCAM stating your authorisation as distributor. How do you void all the waranties may I ask? What about waranties from the dealer themselves in SIM LIM?

Hi Marix,
You still have H6837WIP? I'm looking for one for my office.

Hi, apologies, H6837WIP is now obsolete in SG, there will no longer be having any further development on the product itself. You can consider the T7837WIP (HD) which is the replacement model.

geckosg, i think those who have read the threads here before knows that you are related with marix/vstarcam.

i think that's fine till you start to condemn anyone else sharing their info with other brands or the problems they encountered with vstarcam models etc.

you have gone out of your way to push and promote marix/vstarcam but like i said, that's part of sharing so you should not begrudge others doing the same.

business can't be so bad that you have to resort to doing this in the forum right? :s13:

Dear Hardcor? (easyN representative)

FYI, MARIX were almost distributing EasyN 2 years ago, geckoSG were the few of those who had pre-ordered the mentioned products from us via VR-ZONE back then, those 2 models were the recommended models from easyN China sales team to us for comparison against VStarcam hot sellers. Our earlier post is just to clarify what geckoSG have bought from us and the specs upon his request, we are also advising that geckoSG had posted the wrong info due to our technician giving wrong details to him on the products he bought.

Note: geckoSG's personal stand of individual products does not reflect the view of MARIX.

PS: If you have issue on our authorization letter, you can come visit our office at AMK, or we can pop over to your UBI office.

After my foscam FI8918W died, I get a Vstarcam F6836W... and after few months using it, these are my experiences:

1. The IR lights cannot be turned off (Foscam can be turn off). Because I need to turn off this feature, i used aluminum tape to cover the light.

2. Foscam lens seems wider angle as compared to Vstarcam... lucky for me as both camera are similar... so I replaced Vstarcam lens with Foscam lens.

3. Vstarcam comes with free dns... this is an important feature because now dyndns starting to charge us (it used to be a free service)... but then, last week my kids accidentally turn off the camera power adapter and now it cannot be accessed from internet (although it can be accessed from local network)... sigh...

Hope it helps...

Hi Marix,
I do not have any issue with your letter of authorisation. If it works, I would be the first to congratulate you. But I sincerely wish you will succeed.

After doing some read up of the last 40 pages of product discussion here and reviews online between several brands cameras, I settled for a VStarcam T7838WIP at FUNAN Challenger after seeing the product live demo there.

PROS:

The camera is extremely easy to setup and use. Video & Audio quality are clear.

CONS:

The sad thing is the cameras does not have record to NAS feature, nor does it have audio recording to microSD Card. Audio wise is 1 way on mobile, either you talk or you listen.

The eye4 cloud is still buggy with frequent unavailability today. It could be better.

I believe all cameras have their pros and cons, and its really good that people are contributing their reviews and hands-on so that we can read and benefit from the information.

Do hope more forumers will contribute their product hands-on experience which was the intention of what DR_ARCHER had started initially.

Whatever had happened, let it die down and move on for the benefits of all forumers.

I ain't worry abt VStarcam's sales. Challenger can sell til Out of Stocks, why I need to worry for them.

I did declare how I m related n why I supported them. Nevertheless, i shared my take between the 2 brands already. Its up to readers to go do research n decide which brand they want. I shall not explain more. My contribution here does not represent MARIX nor VStarcam.

Next review I will do r Gen 4 cameras with sensors.

easydoesit,

U can use VSCAM APP instead, much stable n higher availability online. Same thing less the Login interface by account. As usual, these companies will take a while to stabalize their platform

Core2max,

Try restart both cam n router. Of not, Write to the factory support, ask them to refresh ur ddns account.

BTW, Foscam angle should b wider for newer models as some people have claimed. Otherwise, invest in a wide angle lens n couple onto the camera.

I'm still search for the cheapest wide angle lens to try onto my cameras.
