Get hdb/town council approval. Then u can install legally. U shld consider waterproof ones unless u r very sure no water vapour can reach the cameras during extreme downpours.

My aunts neighbours corridor have covers, but during the recent downpours, their indoor models got fried when the thick droplets of water vapour shorted the metal parts behind. So spend more for a water proof model instead if u can.

Noted, but any specific brand and model to advise? Do I need to on my router and modem 24hrs for recording?

Ok, do you have the price for the model? Is it an outdoor model? I am wondering how to connect the power to the camera from inside my house....

thank you

Advice on IP cam CCTV setup

I am in the middle of setting up a IP camera CCTV system for my office. I am planning to put in about 3-5 cameras in all. Non negotiable requirements are:

1) cameras must be 720p and above
2) have night vision
3) ceiling mountable
4) be able to stream 25 FPS at HD quality (preferably over wifi)
5) streams for all the cams must be recordable on a dedicated NVR i.e. not going to use it as a NAS at the same time.

I have already bought a D-Link DCS-2132L camera and the D-Link DNR-322L NVR. I also have a dedicated router for the setup (D-Link DIR-600L). I am not a fan of D-Link but the DCS-2132L and DNR-322L pair up is the only setup that I have found is guaranteed to work without breaking the bank. I considered getting a Synology NAS but I had to pay another $270+ for a 4 camera license pack.

After testing out my setup, I am happy to say that there is so far no issue with compatibility between the camera and NVR. The NVR also works as advertised and is able to format the 2 HDDs I put in in JBOD format. Playback is easy to figure out.

While the DCS-2132L has got good video quality (day & night), the built in wifi in the cam is really lousy. I am not able to get 720p at 25 FPS with the cam and the router side by side; that is only achievable with a wired connection. When I take the cam out of the room, with only a false wall separating the cam and router, even the connection becomes unstable.

I am now reconsidering getting more DCS-2132Ls due to the flaky wifi. While not having wifi is not a deal breaker, it would save a lot of money and simplify installation. Else I would have to explore getting powerline plugs to create wired ports.

I would like to ask the experts here if there are other brands of HD IP cams that are 100% compatible with the DNR-322L at about (or cheaper) price point than the DCS-2132L. The camera must also not be too heavy as I am planning to use 3M Command strips to ceiling mount (the 2132L is really light) but if I have to, I can do screw mounting. Also, I am aware that the DIR-600L is a 'half N' router and am prepared to change that since a 'full N' router is not very expensive; I am using the 600L because it was a free gift.

OT, but I am still sticking to wired for connection stability, and wired cams comes with single combined AV-cum-dc cords, powered from the NVR.. After all wireless cams still requires a power cord.

For remote viewing, I'm not too sure with 720p, our fiber service and 3G/LTE can stream smoothly. My 480p x4 streams only achieve 2 frames/second over 3G.

Marix toilet cam is famous in the USA. Here you would be arrested for showing people going in and out of toilet. I will be interested to see how they test their new "no cover" outdoor cam for water proof! LOL

Do you mean weather proof? I've not come across water proof type for these models. Did you manage to fix that on your boat?

Upload speed for 3G can drop quite drastically on traffic and picture freezes when traffic is high but it will work for MJPEG VGA single camera with some consitency.

Hi,

Anyone here who knows of company that provides IP Camera systems installations from homes?

I would like to set one a couple of IP cameras at home to monitor maid activity but don't think I will be able to do it myself.

I am quite new to this technology and thus would think someone familiar it will be able to do it quite fast. Of course I understand that it will be more expensive than doing the installation on my own but hope to find one that is reasonable and provides good value for the money.

Saw this company off the web and spoke to the person in charged

Singapore's Leading IP Camera SpecialistSingapore's Leading IP Camera Specialist » Singapore's Leading IP Camera Specialist

Anyone knows more options?

Thanks!

Hi,
You need to connect the power to your camera? I think you need to drill through the wall above your door. Google for Easyn Singapore. You can call or write in to michelle@easynsg.com

Best is still wired connection for cameras if u need full constant bandwidth or high outputs. Theres so many factors affecting wireless. You will need to handle ur expectation.

3G/4G wise, many still thinks that 4G means fast speed like cable network, etc. but its not, for fair usage, traffic shaping/throttling will come into play over mobile network. The bandwidth u get over viewing your cams can be a disaster at times.

One more thing, as discussed over the other internet n networking thread, some contributors have also noted that having devices too close to the wireless router doesn't mean good speed too.

Hi,
About your 3M Command strips does it stick to the powdery surface that you find on most false ceilings? If it will chemically react with the surface to create a strong bond, then its ok. But if it's paint on concrete wall, it might work too. I tried to stick on the kitchen tile and it has stayed up there for years now.

Actually ceiling mount more stable than wall mount due to the pivoting force.

Viewing Vstarcam T7837WIP on iPad

Hi,

Need help.

I manage to setup the Vstarcam T7837WIP viewing and control with Window7 PC over the internet using IE browser but unable to view it on ipad using IP Cam viewer Lite app.

What I see just white screen. The IP Cam viewer Lite app only lists T-Series Cam from Vstarcam but not the model number.

Does it mean the Lite version cannot be used with T7837WIP cam?

Any suggestion?

Thank you.
