Dr_Archer... Any review on this baby?

On my mobile app, I can see an image, but from browser, I get a login failure. Hence, can't provide any review yet. I might just get a second set to compare if there is any issue. Funny thing is I can get to the config sccreen, but everytime I go to the image screen, I get the login failure error.

I don't know which model of Trendnet your friend is using, but the Trendnet IP-422WN is available locally. They also have a non-pan-and-tilt model. However, the IP-422WN cost over S$300.
.

Thanks for the recommendation. Yeap that's the model that my friend was using, he got it for $24x from Singpost. I got it today at SLS for $259, maybe $3xx was the launch price.

For a ptz with IR cam that can record to a nas directly, I guess it's the cheapest already.

Anyone tried IP cam from ipcam.com.sg ?
Theirs could record to SD card but relatively slightly more expensive in the 300+ range.

As I do not have NAS, any IP camera besides the above which can record to SD card?

Thanks for any advice !:s12:

Looks like the Wansview NC550W or the NC530W. Mediapro sells H series at S$229, which appears to be from the same OEM as that listed on the ipcam.com.sg web site.

MARIX is now selling EasyN, the H3 I ordered can record to MicroSD Card (Up to 32GB) on motion detection. So far, I managed to get 4 days plus of recording on my MicroSD Card. Image quality wise is sharper than those normal MPEG. Saw from MARIX's AD tat they are doing pre-order for H3 (H.264) now at $199 up to Christmas. Regular priced at $229. Only thing I can say is easyN allows viewing from all browsers and easy 4-directional controls. So, its easy to use on any sort of mobile device without the APPS. But, china product lah, a lot of spelling mistake and WEB UI wise may not be a turn on factor... Sorry, but I like to look at nice things including interfaces.

EasyN currently does not offer recording to NAS like QNAP & SYNOLOGY. MARIX's tech team told me that they are convincing easyN to add tat to next firmware release... So looking forward to it...

Can't complain much for special pricing they give me... LOLz... BUt Dr_ARCHER, I am really keen on your Megapixel camera unit, can release URL out for me to login and see?

So far, I can only get the image via a mobile app but not browser. But the aspect ratio is 16:9 and not 4:3, so on the mobile app, all images are vertically elongated.

Thanks Dr Archer & GeckoSG, need some clarification though:

1) Confused over (nc550w, nc530w) and the H series, are they the same thing?

2) nc550w seem to be more costlier than nc530w, what's the major differences? not sure if its nc550w or nc530w on the ipcam.com.sg web site?

3) GeckoSG mentioned about easyN which can record to SDcard on motion detection, this is not merely picture snapshots upon motion detection, but rather moving recording, right, so even if my curtain moves when the wind blows, it'll be recorded?

4) Which one is the easiest to install, hassle free? NC550w, or easyN?

Thanks for the advice again, :s12:

I don't have the H series manual/brochure with me, so I don't know its specs. The difference between NC530W and NC550W are:

a) 530 lens f=4.5mm, 550 lens f=4.0mm
b) 530 supports H.264/JPEG image compression, 550 supports H.264/MPEG4/JPEG image compression.

I think H series is more like the 530 thank 550, since I don't recall it having MPEG4 support (I may be wrong). The model at ipcam.com.sg has a f=4.5mm lens, so it would be 530 rather than 550.

I think EasyN is a software, not the camera. You can have the software save to the NAS/SD card, but that means your computer must be on. If the camera allows for direct storage to the NAS/SD card, then you don't need to have your computer switched on.

Bro, for EasyN, as long as anything move, it will be a motion... So, it will
record a video, take it that its a continuous recording onto the MicroSD Card.
And for EasyN, I can't make my QNAP NAS detect the camera to record, have
written in to EasyN to ask and also asked MARIX to help me check too.

There's another brand which MARIX is bringing in as well. WEBUI seems promising, really hate them for bringing in so much cameras, always makes me burnt pocket... :D

Its also H.264 like the EasyN, but more user friendly in terms of usage.

Anyone if keen on my unit of EasyN F2 (MPEG), I'll be willing to let it go so that I can fund my next purchase. Price will be $129. Used less than 2 weeks.
PM me for more details.

So EasyN is the name of the camera, not the name of the software.

Yes Bro!

Today called MARIX to enquiry about EasyN, they say management decided not to bring in any yet. But want to further test the demo units fully. But they are now bringing in a few different type of camera for fully functionality test including a 3 x zoom model from other brands. I'm looking forward to play with it... Waited for Foscam's 3 x Zoom til neck also like Giraffe liao...

Care to share what are some of these models? I am always keen to test out new models. :D

Talking about new models, the new Dlink DCS-5230L, which was available at the recent Sitex, is now part of my inventory. I went to Sitex on the first day, but the special offer was only for the 2nd day. Since I was out of the country on the 2nd day, I asked if I can buy at the special price. If so, I wanted to get 3 units. However, I was told I can't so I ended up buying just one unit.

Here's a picture of the DCS-5230L taken from Dlink's website:

DCS-5230L_main.jpg

At first glance, it looks like a coffee/expresso machine. However, I had a chance to do some preliminary tests on it during my recent block leave.

Unlike most 'conventional' (i.e. non-dome shape) cameras, where the tilting is upwards because the camera is affixed to the base, the 5230L tilting is downards. While conventional camera's allow you to flip it upside down and then set the image to be flipped, it means you have to mount it on a ceiling. The 5230L, however, has a 'base' for you place on say a book shelf, so you can still enjoy a downard tilt without attaching to the ceiling. I find this to be very useful because I tend to place the cameras on high places (on top of cupboards/high shelves). Conventional cameras means I can't see the lower part without manually placing the camera in a tilted fashion. With the 5230L, I can place it high on a shelf, and still be able to tilt downwards.

Image wise, the 5230L seems to be similar to the top-end 5635. The user interface is similar (using the Orange/White/Black colour themes of DLink). With my mobile app (Robert Chou's IP Cam Viewer), I can even select the specific model (5230 series), while the 5635 model is not available for selection (I use the 5605 model and it works for the 5635).

When I have more time, I will snap some pictures and do a colour/image comparison under the different lighting modes (like what I have done with the other models). Hopefully, I can also include the B series and the H series 720p model (provided I can solve the last's problem of not being able to see the image on a web browser).

Bro, still waiting for MARIX to get back to me. I didn't see the model number as it was "LONG". Anyway, when I was at their office earlier on a few days back, I peeped and saw a few models which they are arranging to sell locally. Consisting of the mentioned 3X Optical Zoom, H.264 model with 32GB recording (Not EasyN though). Seems that they might not be bringin in easyN for the time being. They shown me the H.264 interface of the model that they are bringing sample in to test. Interface wise is something any end-user will like. Just a shame that recording not supported on NAS, but I'm pretty sure it will be worked out soon.

My mouth is still drooling from the thought of 3X Optical Zoom, I don't have the means to buy the expensive 10xZoom D-Link, so have to settled for a 3x Zoom for my home surveillance means.

Is that at Sin Ming Lane? Are they open on Saturday? I have a few hours to kill tomorrow afternoon, and wouldn't mind dropping by to see (and perhaps buy) some of the newer models.

Dr_ARCHer...

Sorry, we are closed on weekends, its reserved for on-site setups for our clients who work during the weekdays.
And at the current moment, newer models will only be available once our tech team test and management
approved the sales. But we thank Bro geckoSG for testing out some of the cameras for us and provide very honest
user feedbacks on the samples.

We are working with a few manufacturers who can give us better quality products and better User Interface to offer
to our local community. We willtest and make sure that these products justify the cost that the end-user pays.

Next few toys that Bro geckoSG has already leaked out are the H.264 with 32GB MicroSD Card Slot recording to
local, IR-CUT Filter & Wireless-N. And 1 particular model which has 3xOptical Zoom feature, IR-CUT Filter &
Wireless-N, but on MPEG, we've seen the manufacturer's demo units, were impressed by it, but we want to make
sure it is what they are selling. So, we hope everyone can be patient a bit while we wait for the samples to make
their way to Singapore!

3x optical zoom, eh? Sounds good. Wonder if it is any of these:

_NIP_009BW_3x_Optical_zoom_PTZ_v0.jpg_200x200.jpg
New_3x_Optical_Zoom_wireless_PTZ_IP_v0.jpg_200x200.jpg
IR_CUT_3X_Optical_Zoom_Outdoor_Wireless_v0.jpg_200x200.jpg
.

These are OEM designs and can be easily rebranded. For example, the Foscam FI8906W uses the 2nd design.

Think I spotted the first one... :p

Its easily re-brandable for all manufacturers in China, but importantly is the quality and webUI. Dr_ARCHer, have you ever had your hands on the first
type?

There are sites which discusses about cross flashing the firmware/UI. Haven't tried it before though.

And no, haven't seen/used the first or second type.
