If wireless, I suspect that your wireless may not be stable. If wireless is stable, the camera will not lose connection easily. My last DIR-851 keeps dropping the camera, I keep blaming my cameras, within 1-2 weeks, signs shows that my router is dying and once I replaced my router, my cameras have not dropped connection.

Hope this information helps. Wireless signal if not consistant will cause drops to connection. IP Camera's wireless cards are not as good as laptops. So, you need to know the limitation too.

I've used DIR-655, Asus N56, N66 and AC66 routers all without problems.

If there are multiple users require to view the same camera, is there any multicast thingy to be setup?

Answer: The power adaptor.

Yesterday, while in the office, I couldn't get an image from my LevelOne WCS-2040 wireless IP camera. As indicated in one of my earlier post, the WCS-2040 seems to share the same OEM as the Dlink DCS-6620G. Even the user interface is almost identical. I came home today and tried to reset the camera by switching off and on. Nothing. I felt the adaptor and it wasn't even warm. Conclusion: The adaptor has gone kaput.

So far, I have 3 wireless cameras whose power adaptor has died on me: the F series (Foscam OEM), the Edimax ICS-7010PTn and now the LevelOne WCS-2040. My cameras are on 24/7, and occasionally, I need to reset them by switching off and on just to re-establish the connection between the camera and the router (and this has happened to almost all my cameras). However, all the cameras seem to be still working, but it is the adaptors that gave way.

Fortunately though, power adaptors are easy to replace. Just look for one with the same voltage, current and connector size. For the WCS-2040, that (the output) is +12V and 1.5A.

I am in need to install wireless IP cam in my home to monitor my FDW, i have a synology NAS and would like to video to be stored in NAS. please recommond a good cam for me. My budget is approx 300+ one 1 cam, need to have night vision and should be able to monitor from android phone, would be a plus if it has a motion sensor

I don't record to NAS, so I haven't tested this functionality with all my wireless IP cameras.

If you look at Mediapro's pricelist, you can find the following cameras that has IR support and is able to record to NAS as well as SD card:

o Edimax IC-7110W. This has PTZ function and supports resolution up to 1280x800. List price is S$369.
o Dlink DCS-2132L. This is a fixed lens camera and supports resolution up to 1280x720. List price is S$289.

Other cameras may support NAS recording, but the pricelist did not indicate.

should be since its sold by NTUC and comes with local warranty...a friend of mine bought 2 sets and she said its really easy to setup - kept showing us pics of her pet dogs on her iPhone, can even hear the dogs barking

i believe a similar vstarcam model with local warranty is around $249 or you can forgo the warranty and order from overseas.

Cheap but support wise, you have to be prepared. Warranty wise, check the terms and condition. MARIX is 1 Year 1 to 1 Exchange for Factory Defects (Carry-in).

If you are monitoring the pets, why not consider the T6836WIP which MARIX is bring in? It's an entry level MJPEG with no recording but launching at promotional price of $129 each, cheap and good image quality.

I wanted to recommend you the ASUS RT-N66U or RT-N56U, but now I worry firmware of the router may not be stable.

I've just upgraded to the ASUS RT-N56U, but do not upgrade to the V3.0.xx firmware as there is some problem it seems with the wireless. My router keeps dropping all my devices wifi connection after a while and when I do a setup of my cameras using IP Camera Viewer Pro over the 3G, the router crashed several time.

I've just drop back my firmware to the 1.0.xxx firmware and will have to monitor if these things happened or not.

I just bought mine in SLS for less than $150 with a local warranty. Sold by genuine shop genuine people.

I need PoE..... seems like not much choices...

i gotten 3 vstarcam products for its spec, but each have their flaws and instability. Gonna try out foscam and see how it goes.
