They were my EX-COY IT Vendor, so it just happen that they started Distribution and brought in the IP Cameras. I was their volunteer product tester for the range of cameras they brought in cos I was hunting for an IP camera back then to monitor my kid n dog.

I had multiple D-Link, Linksys, Apexis cameras before, and gave away after I upgraded.

Started with Foscam FI8918W cam with them. Almost every 3 months I return the product to them cos of Motor issue. 1st time, motor stuck, 2nd time, motor no longer move. Take down camera, can hear something dropped off inside. 3rd time, again motor screwed up. I gave up. Then they offer to replace with H6837WI. I used VStarcam and did not have problem for 6 months on the motor. H6837WIP came and I upgraded cos I was impressed with the LIVE Streaming which now all the major brands are only just started. When I step into the T series, it was a whole total new experience. The main factory NEVER wanted audio with recording. It was MARIX that pushed the factory hard for it knowing the market well, so T series users should see an update soon in late September or early October. In fact, yes, VStarcam products are never perfect, its the distributors that listen to our problem that makes the manufacturer resolve the issue or enhance it. It makes a big difference.

That's why I strongly recommends them to anyone. A good company should be kept alive and not die off the market cos of unhealthy price competition.

Now I really look forward to see the sample test unit of the 3x outdoor camera. I will write a review for it too.

Not all are fisheye, some are wide angle both are different. Choose the right one for your cam.

Its preset function for camera #2 onwards. v3.15 will crash when preset camera #2 onwards. v3.16 is able to set 2 preset positions for camera #2 and #3 but crash on 3rd.

I organised a group buy and Marix is very helpful to assist my friends to setup mutiple cameras.

Think u need to be more specific in ur queries. Eg, affordable...can be $50, $100, $200 or more. In other words...u need to state wat's affordable to u. Another eg, Can run without internet connection means? No option, hve option, or can function even if no connection?

Think about ur needs then post ur req'ments and hopefully the gurus here can help. Btw, it would be good if u read thru the threads as there are already quite a few reviews, Q&A posted....It will help.......

It is not hard to get a reply. The reply is already there in the thread. All of us are newbie ones, and we all learn along the way. If you look at this thread, there are a wealth of information on the brands, the models, the features, the set-ups etc. Why don't you do a search and look at some old posts?

Sometimes, we hesitate to recommend a brand/model to every newcomer, not because we don't want to, but because we may be deemed to be biased/fanboy/paid etc.

You asked for a wireless IP camera that does not need internet connection. By definition, a wireless IP camera is a camera that works wirelessly (hence the wireless term) and within a network (hence the term IP, which means internet protocol). So I doubt if you will find a wireless IP camera that does not require an internet connection.

What you need is therefore a camera that does not need an internet router. Without defining what is affordable (affordable means different prices to different people), it is also difficult to suggest anything.

Now, if you search around (either Google or the threads here), you will find that there is only one particular model that operates without an internet: the Prolink PHC105:

Presumably, this camera requires you to insert a SIM card, and it operates like a 3G telephone. I have never used it before, so I cannot tell you how good it is. There is a short write-up on this Hardwarezone site, so you might want to check that you.

Thanks a lot, sorry for my foolish request, I got a question here though.. I'm planning to get a d link 942l ip camera, I noticed there a micro so slot there I wonder if it will record by itself and save it inside the memory card

I am not sure what you mean by 'record by itself'. Some cameras allow you to set recording upon motion detection (to save you the space). For some, you activate it via a on-off button. For others, you can set up a time to start recording.

I am interested in the Vstarcam T7837WIP. I checked out the Marix website but I have some further questions that I hope can be answered.

- Does it record both audio and video?
- Is the video in colour?
- How many hours of recording can a 32GB card contain on normal resolution?

For Android viewing:
- Does the app support playback of SD-card recorded videos?
- Is the SD-Card recording playback continuous, or split into multiple files?

General questions:
- How long is the power cable without the 3m extension?
- Can I mount it to the wall using 3m double sided tapes? Has anyone tried?
- Is there a light on the camera when it's recording? Can the light be removed?

1. Current recording to MicroSD have no audio. We'll see a firmware release in September to early October as promised by Factory
2. Video is in Color on daylight, n greyscale in total darkness
3. UP TO 7 days possible
4. Default Power cable is around 1Metre
5. No. The brackets does not have much surface for the tapes to have contact to hold the bracket.
6. There is an activity LED for T7837WIP, can be disabled from webUI.

I'll try to provide some answer for this instead.

1. SD-card recording (seriously I think all are the same, unless the other 2 can record audio into it.
2. VStarcam cannot record to NAS for sure. But both Synology & QNAP NAS can pick up the MJPEG from the camera.
3. LIVE Viewing from VStarcam is much better in terms of its mobile APPs. You should see the LIVE demo yourself to judge. I own VStarcam myself after comparing against the demos I saw at stores.
4. SD Card playback, VStarcam allows you to playback over your mobile devices. This is something I like, but speed depends on your upload & download speed.
5. T7837WIP uses universal mounting L-shape bracket, Foscam's design wise, I presume it to be a ceiling mount like the E7839WIP previously reviewed by me. The 942L should be a universal mount bracket.

I am still a bit confused about the SD card playback.

From mobile app, am I able to easily choose the date and timerange that I want to view, or do I need to slowly browse through multiple files to find the required timerange?

If browsing through the mobile app is too slow, how else can I view the SDcard recordings? Do I need to remove the SD card from the cam, attach it to the PC and copy it out? How many files will there be in a 24 hour recording?

Wanna buy 1 cheapo cam to test out whether can monitor the kid's homework, learning at hme doable or not.

Wats is the cheapest IP Cam i can get on the market? Nothing special nor recording nor audio require. Just visual monitoring will do, wanna watch over my kids and tell them "to do HOMEWORK!!! STOP TV!! etc etc

My mum is always in the house but she kinda have no control over my kid after school. -_-:

If ok, might wanna invest 2 better cams with recording motion detection function.
