anyway i just got the vstar 858...the andriod software many bugs ...eg. cant reset wifi password if key in wrongly or change ..need to hard reset the camera ...cannot detect wifi at times ...need to play ard reset here reset there than can

Yes, android more buggy nowsaday i agree on eye4. Their R&D still patching up. Vscam more stable

Saw foscam at PC Show preview... $139, compared to VStarcam's online price of T7835WIP @ $109.... wooo... difference can add $26 for class 10 microsd...

A quick clarification on differences between T7835WIP & T7838WIP. The latest batch of T7835WIP uses the same lens as T7838WIP which is sold on our online store.

The price difference is due to manufacturer giving us better pricing, so we sell the price cheaper back to the consumer.

does anyone know how to control the pan and tilt in foscam's android app? Whenever I click once on the left/right icon the camera just rotates 1 entire revolution. Can we control the amount it rotates?

Some apps just send the pan/tilt command to the camera, but the degree/magnitude of the pan/tilt is determined by the camera setting. You may need to log onto the camera directly and check for the pan/tilt settings. Reducing that will mean that each time the camera receive a pan/tilt command, it will move by whatever is the pan/tilt setting of the camera.

T7833WIP has network error

I have two Vstar cams set up exactly the same. T7833WIP on port 80 and 7838 on port 81. Both port forwarded. They both have worked from outside the network. Now the T7833WIP is showing "Errors in network communication: in the "Factory DDNS Status" on the main page of the camera options. If I reboot the camera it comes back on line. It is wireless and the 7838 is wired. Anyone else with this problem?

They r no longer keen on maintaining the free ddns server from wat I understand since they got their pnp technology. I no longer depend on their ddns but signed up for the cheapest dyndns plan instead.

Wif need recording to NAS, D-LINK is the choice for now. Do not need NAS, vstarcam can b a good choice. Sineoji getting cheaper but doesnt seems to b stable from previous complains here. Samsung new models r ex. But someone say image not bad too.

PnP was saying off line as well on android.

PnP says off line outside the network. Inside the network it works fine. Reboot the camera it works outside as well for a while and then shows off line.

Depends on your ISP, you might need to reboot ur router n leave router offline for a while. I had tat issue once. But a router reboots solves the problem. Routing issue with the ip ur router is issue

Vstarcam uses a shorter PTP code than most other cameras so there are not a lot of generic programs that you can use. I have not tried Tiny because the Vstar program on Android works fine. Eye4 is not yet ready for prime time.

VStarCam works with Robert Chou's IP Cam Viewer. I have Tiny but don't use it. I will try that out on my iPad.

Note that you don't always need to choose the exact brand/model. Some brands/models share the same OEM, so a similar one will work. For example, the F series and H series that I got from Mediapro uses either Foscam or SmarEye drivers.
