Sorry noob in IP camera, thinking of setting up an IP camera with LAN at my HDB Main Door.

Any recommendation since i will be using LAN.

Mainly just need to Record if there is any Motion detected then allow playback/management access from PC.

I have read through the last couple of pages but nobody seems to mention Foscam.
The video quality is not bad, it comes with free DDNS (2 year I think), Pan Tilt and night recording.
I have a Asustor NAS which you can install a video survellience to record up to 4 cam (free) and it has a big list of supported CAM. It is not the best out there but it works and also serve as my media center. the only complain I have is the play back. Its too slow. You can only fast play at 8X. So it takes 1 hour to view 24 hours of recording.

Hi Gurus,
Could you kindly advise on any IP camera with the below features:
. Good audio recording (Main priority)
. Average and above image quality (does not need to be crystal clear)
. SD card slot or any other function as long as I can record 24/7 without having to ON my laptop

My budget is around $150 but am willing increase as long as the audio quality is not compromise.
It is mainly used for recording my tuition which is pretty frequent.

I also getting my foscam FI9821W tomorrow and similarly Looking to buy asustor. May i know which model u have, where u brought and for how much?
I am Looking at As-202T and asking ACE peripheral for pricing.
Is the surveillance center able to record while we live monitor/stream the camera via mobile app? Any major issues u facing? Thx

Actually the market have moved out of ddns already. So free ddns isnt an attraction to the consumer anymore.

Most IP cameras like vstarcam, even dlink r usig cloud solutions for plug n play.

Up to individual on their choices ultimately. A shame only that vstarcam have stopped the dev on NAS support

So far none for good audio. Vstarcam listen audio is good, but recording wif audio is not fantastic. My friends foscam 9821, audio listen isnt as fantastic as compared to my vstarcam 7838. Now waiting for him to give the go ahead to dismantle the whole unit to check what is underneath the shell

I've just replaced 10 DLINK ip cameras with 9 fixed SAMSUNG ip cameras. 7 of them are SmartCam HD Pro (SNH-P6410BN) and 2 are SmartCam WiFi Home Security (SNH-1011N).

So far I'm very happy for they gave me IR (all models) and wide angle coverage (SmartCam HD Pro) which I cannot find for both features in the cameras here.

With wide angle I do not require a PTZ camera as it provides overlap coverage. And the IR provides adequate power for my 4-room HDB flat

Currently I'm using them for monitoring only. No recording needed for the moment.

that's a lot of cameras to monitor your own hdb flat. fortunately u dont need recording else the storage space requirement will be a lot with HD recording (assuming continuous recording mode)
May i know how much you bought the samsung cameras for and from where?

Personally, I still prefer the old DDNS/portforwarding routine, as opposed to using a Cloud and proprietary apps. I never felt comfortable having the video feed going to the cloud. Sure it makes setup a breeze, but I still prefer the old fashion way.

I guess many thought that cloud services meaning your video gets saved on their server. That is actually not true.

The videos only gets relayed to the cloud server for the phone to retrieve. Once done. The transmission stops from camera to cloud server.

The manufacturer actually also do not wish to save anything on their cloud server, otherwise, imagine the storage they need for millions of users.

Does anyone here has the older version of Vstarcam video player software that supports 7838 and 7835? As the new version removed the scrolling bar to scroll to different part of the video, it is a hassle for me to look through the videos.

Really appreciate someone who has it to send it to me.

Thinking of buying a PTZ Dlink IP camera for my small office. Planning to mount on the ceiling but the powerpoint is nearer to the floor. However the IP camera's 1m wire is not long enough.

Is there any extension power for the IP camera's power adapter? I can't install a powerpoint as it's a serviced office.

Have lah. Mine also extended (3m) in this way without the need to cut-to-extend the cable. Just go to SL SQ to buy lah
