Yo guys, just wanna ask opinions. Current on NAS + 2ipcam setup at home. NAS n 1ipcam broken. Thinking shud I stick on the same setup. Using ddns over noip and recording. Or shud I just go with those standalones

actually this question only yourself can answer. whats your actual need? u need so long storage of recording?

in most cases, 3~5 days should meet the needs of most people.

Spot on, thinking back, I hardly go back to the NAS recordings in the past 2-3 years. If I do, probably bcos of "suspicious" cases. I guess the human factor also play a part, if u trust ur helper then, it's just a failsafe. Decided to hoot Samsung wide angle + foc sd card @sitex

I got from CEF ideas. Unless it's chiong one or something.. but now it's the app.. are u able to upgrade your firmware? The iphone app still ok..

Im looking for a not so expensive PTZ wireless ip camera, home use.
purpose is to see what my dog is doing when im not around.. lol
Recording not needed.

Actually im planning to get the Dlink 5020 but to see if there is other recommendation

hmm i actually bought the Dlink 5222 today. But then when i tried to set it up at home vs see at the IT Show very different. The image is darn solid, and the people movement is almost real time. But when i set up using my fibre network, i not able to see that.

It's real weird...

Yes, I could. Since u didn't buy from MARIX, then u shld contact CEF Ideas n ask them to resolve ur issue for u.

Mine from MARIX is able to do all those things that you cannot do.

Samsung SNH-P6410BN bought from sitex, works fine when accessing the same network(wifi). Couldnt get it to work in remote, I had an existing port-forwarding, which i removed it later, still cant work. In fact whenever i try to connect remotely, my home network dc and reconnect

is it the router, the isp-Starhub fibre or the camera?

any expert can help/advise?

8 out of 40+ cameras is not all that much...the others are Panasonic...

For me, static IP of the Samsung cam within the LAN doesn't seem to work. I have to configure using dynamic IP via the router's DHCP. However, since my router is an Asus, I could configure the router to hand out the same IP address based on the MAC address of the driver. As such, the same IP is given out to the Samsung, making it like it is a static IP address device. With this, I could then configure the portforwarding rules, and use an independent 3rd party app.

I'm on dlink (from starhub), yep did similar steps while reading up similar stuff from the web. And... was able to view remotely thru robert chou...

the SMARTCAM app is still... having issues to view remotely everytime have to log in twice to view. anyone having similar issues?

I am able to set the static IP as some of the locations I am using is using stock SingTel ADSL or Fibre router not the Asus, was unable to view all cameras at same time as it's only set strictly to port 80 but due to reminder by brothers here and like you said can set different listening port to different internal IPs.

Just curious, what is the actual bitrate stream out from the Samsung cameras over mobile?


Like for VStarcam, bitrate can be between 512Kbps ~ 4086Kbps. Have anyone tried doing tracing of traffic?

Budget of $100

Vstarcam went offline after a year plus. Looking at getting a new ptz camera to replace it, use it mainly for monitoring helper at home. Preferably camera has:
- a long power supply to allow me to place it at central location at home.
- compatible with Synology Surveillance

Considering the DCS-5020L, any other recommendations?
