Wireless vs Wired Charging (Samsung)

How do you all think about wireless and wired charging for samsung phones.
Just got my Note8 few days ago and I have yet to plug in the cable and rely on Wireless charging.

Was thinking will wireless charging be more efficient and better battery lifespan than wired charging.

Keep aside the charging time as wired will always to faster.

It says heats degrades battery life, wireless does have some heat as it is induction. However, fast wired charging has faster charging and generates more heat.

wireless charging is never 100% efficient, some of the power will be generated as heat energy and your battery will still heat up from the coil. be it wireless charging or wired charging, it doesn't produce a significantly difference in battery lifespan wor.

I see. Just now saw an article powerpoint document on wireless and wired charging on why wireless provides a slightly better battery life. As heat generated might not be as hot s wired. Cos wired 0-55% the super fast charge make phones hot.

If you compare that way, then you shouldn't fast wireless charge also. Cos Samsung fast wireless charger charges at 2A at peak and normal wireless charging is about 500mA to 1A.

If you're concerned about the charging speed generating too much heat, you also have the option to turn off fast charging so that it charges at 10W max.

Honestly, theoretically the paper does make sense but in reality it doesn't translate to experience. Also, you have to consider the fact that people do use their phones during charging. As a protection algorithm, the phone automatically disables fast charging the moment your screen is turned on,be it wireless charging or cable charging..

wireless or wired fast charging should not make a huge difference to battery lifespan

fast charging vs regular charging will have a bigger impact on battery lifespan, with the fast charging shortening the battery lifespan

Aiyo, i'm trying to say that qi wireless algorithm has a different wireless charging spec which produces lower heat comparing to samsung fast wireless charging as the power output is lower.

Likewise the citation of samsung stopping fast charge when your screen is on, is also a battery protective method which prevents the battery from overheating while you perform intensive task while charging.

Back to your question, there will be a difference in lifespan considering the heat produced between wireless charging and cable charging, but its not gonna be significant enough to forgo adaptive fast charge in exchange for longer lifespan...

Don't worry too much lar. One of the main feature of the phone is fast wireless charging. Just make full use of these specifically designed features to justify the money you paid. When the time comes you notice a drop in battery life, it is also about time to upgrade to the next model.

That's like charging from 0% to 100% daily for almost 3 years...

Yep, perhaps, sometimes also after a long time. Android will start to lag and some apps instable and take more battery.

alright, Perhaps shall try, disabling fast charge if i have to charge over night. If in need of boost, shall just the fastcharge

If you're not going to be using the phone for the next 5 years then just use whatever charging method is available. No need to be paranoid and restrict yourself.

hopefully not 5 years, probably minimum 2 years, next device should be Note 10. The 10th edition of Note series should be a big bang.

Is the wireless charger for the Note 8 using a micro-USB connector to connect to the charger block or is it using USB-C connector? For the Note 7, it used micro-USB while the phone used USB-C... that's was really messed up... how about Note 8?

the new wireless charger convertible uses USB-Type C instead of micro-usb.
Im still using the previous (S7 edge era) fast wireless charger that uses micro-usb

Oh that's great... but rats... that means I need to buy another wireless charger... I have one from the Note 7 starter pack... maybe I should just buy a USB-C to micro-USB converter.

There are converter adapter bundled in the Note8 package (micro-usb to c, usb to c). You can use those converter adapter.
