Thank you everyone for all the valuable suggestions..

More about myself. Currently I am running children education training business for 15 years. It is very tough and need to spend a lot of time on my business. My wife is expecting and our first baby is due end of the year.

I am thinking of doing business that can run from home. So that I can spend more time with my baby. If it grow big, my wife can quit her job and work together on this home online business.

Over the years, I have explored many opportunities. I started with internet marketing in 2005. Went to many seminars.. but found that alot of them are scam.. They buy their own "products" to prove the sales or they photoshop the result. This was the early days of internet marketing.

Then I went to learn stocks and forex. Attended many workshop also.
Currently, still do some forex trading. My skill is not there yet. Not able to earn a consistent and substantial monthly income.

Still exploring for more opportunities. The trend now is on e-commerce. Went for alot of preview for e-commerce business. I went to Qoo10 preview last month, look impressive, but not sure is it do-able for most people. I also google Amazon (FBA) Fullfillment by Amazon, look interesting too.

I am open for more opportunities.

Thank you everyone for sharing.

Wow.. Ic. jiayou! :s12:

Ya, no need to go for such Internet Marketing seminars, they usually teach very generic idea stuff, (which can be found online or some trial and error) execution is always the hard part, not the ideas.

I believe since you also have prior business experience, doing business from home won't be as difficult as compared to somebody who doesn't have any business sense :p

I can't help with Forex, no experience with that, Internet marketing is where I have experience.

Just my two cents, if you like E-commerce, you can start off with Carousell/Amazon. I have a friend who sold vintage items off Carousell and makes 4 digits/month (he didn't disclose exact sum to me) even when he was still a student, so it definitely is possible... Or perhaps you could sell something to your existing clients? something related to the children education training business?

Why not create your own product since you are in child education business. I think there are some companies doing it too but i forgot their names at the moment. It is where you get a weekly or monthly package where you can teach, play or bond with your children. A similar concept but for dogs is BarkBox. I believe you can do something for child education too.

As for Forex(I am a fundamental trader) or any online business, I can provide you free resources or answer some of your questions if you need. Just post it here or PM me. Good Luck!

Hi allstate and jchua

Thanks for all the advise.

I am in education biz, definitely to write children education book and assessment is my strength, but I am not able to complete with big boy like Popular and EPH publishers..

I checked out BarkBox, very interesting concepts. There is some similar locally where you pay a monthly fee, they will send you monthly healthy titbits to your home.

I also checked out ShopOnlinelah, they started small from Qoo10 and now have a physical shop.

After researching much, I think I will kick off my home biz by setting up shop in Qoo10 and Amazon. Is pretty simple by following their instructions steps by steps.

The next 2 difficult tasks are to find out what are sell-able and how to make your listing appear in the front of the pages.

Planning is easy, execution is the toughest part. Now have to be discipline to implemented it, to get experience and test the water...

Cool.. i just checked out ShopOnlineLah. Ok yep @ Qoo10 and Amazon... If want SEO & Adwords then going the own website & marketing method is much better in terms of the potential.

Otherwise for lay person / not outsourcing then going to Qoo10 and Amazon is good for a start. jia you :D

Good to hear that and good luck in your new business. For fast sell-able, check out the best sellers in Qoo10. Those numbers are real. To appear in front is simple, either a joint promotion with Qoo10 or self serve of $30-$50 for a spot a day. If you have a new product that is not available in qoo10, it will run like crazy if spot on. just look at this seller's product that boom and happened only recently.

To be successul in Qoo10, is to spend time research on your niche and find the right product. It has good SEO tools within Qoo10 to promote your items.

I have sold some items in Qoo10 and took 1 yr to turnover... is pretty tough to sell in Qoo10 unless your item is niche and u are the only seller...
the item which i'm selling used to be sold by 2 sellers (including myself) but today it has increased to 7-8 sellers or ever more and dont forgetting the 12% comm to be deducted from your selling price. Margin is lower when your competitor will bring down the price to attract more customers... in the end, the winner will still be Qoo10.

So right now, I have decided to sell off all my remaining stocks and move on to another form of online marketing which still quite new here...

Yep.. Thats the issue if one is selling generic products with not a powerful enough unique selling proposition.

My humble opinion is not to waste your money...They would most probably be telling you stuff that you already know...Actually if you want to sell stuff online, you can also consider ebay, carousell, lazada, your own webshop or Fulfilled by Amazon...Good luck...

Agree, i think the "teacher" is doing similar to affliate in the workshop. (u gota sign up his course then he give u his contact) and of course, the contact will know u are from him and... who so stupid reconmand u and without taking any commision? :s13:

Which online marketing platform are you with now?

Yes. I agreed. It is not easy to be successful in Qoo10.
I spent the whole week study Qoo10, the trend and best sellers.
To do well, you need to be in the right niche.
You also need to use SEO tools to promote your products till it get listed in the first page. Copywriting skill is needed to sell your products.
Is a lot of hardwork. Guess, I have to go through it to learn.
Once you master it, you can scale your business to other market like Amazon and others.
