lai lai lai, Robinson Shoes 20% discount for Father's Day!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Father’s Day is fast approaching and if you’ve not yet bought a gift to say “nice one, dad " then it’s time to get a wiggle on.
This year, Father’s Day falls on Sunday 19 June which gives you a bit of time to get organised.
Dads can be difficult to buy for as they tend to buy what they want, when they want it. However, that’s not to say you can’t buy him something unforgettable like a pair of shoes from Robinson's that he has always wanted.
There's never been a better time to purchase as we are offering an exclusive 20% off all non-clearance items until Monday midnight. Simply use the code "FATHER" at the checkout.
Best of all, you can buy them without leaving the house.
Free delivery T&C's apply. *Discount ends Monday 13th June 2016 11.59pm. Applies to shoes priced over £150.
For those bros wearing Loake Burgundy Strand, are you able to get a matching belt locally?
Online Burgundy belts (herrings, Barker) are usually "high shine" type. Loake has Burgundy calf belts, but the quality looks *ahem*.
The answer is... It really depends.
The main difference between the shoemaker and 1880 range are the leathers used for the uppers. 1880s use calf leathers, whereas the shoemaker range uses "polished" leather which are leathers coated with a finish, giving the shoe a permanent effect of being polished.
Purists will insist on calf leathers over "polished" ones. However, polish shoes have their uses as well. They are easier to maintain, and less delicate then calf leathers.
I did check out some models from the Shoemaker's line at Robinsons Hereen whilst shopping.
The polished leathers did look a bit disappointing compared to full grain.
On that note, how are Barker's compared to Loake 1880s?
No need to match burgundy with burgundy. Too match-matchy. Dark brown will do.
In the same situation as you. In the end i just went beltless with my waist adjusters.
Equusleather would be a good place to look though. Saw a post on styleforum asking for a color that would match his burgundy strands. I might get one too if they came out with a discount/free shipping.
can always get burgundy belts from Carmina/Ed Et Al from their stores directly. Can go touch and see if you like the quality before purchasing as well..
Anyone have experience with this Septième Largeur brand?
From a previous discussion:
Also just learnt that Septieme Largeur has a brick and mortar on Pickering.
Interesting.
super overpriced
Yeah, we're looking at a $200 markup from European prices.
edit: Parisian Gentleman's comments:
Founded by Marcos Fernandez Cabezas, a prominent figure in the French men’s shoe market, who also founded Bowen, Emling and Markowski—Septième Largeur is one of the very few brands on the list that hasn’t increased in price since last year’s selection…which in the current economic climate is very much appreciated.
Septième Largeur’s patterns are tastefully designed and the collections are vast enough to suit almost every taste. The lasts are classic in shape and full of character. And regarding the fluctuating leather quality that 7L experiences at times, this is a sporadic problem that is not unusual for companies making shoes in Spain or Portugal within this price range, unfortunately.
A remarkable small French company for sure, selling quality products at a budget-friendly price. It’s worth mentioning that 7L just expanded globally with the opening of two shops in Asia – one in Singapore and another in Taiwan.
++ : Slick RTW models, with the option for a “patina shoe service” on some styles, fair pricing.
— : Occasional leather quality issues, fit not always perfect.
$630 locally.
Mid 200 Eur in France ( $360+ sgd). Less if you can cut the Vat
But if you like the local service why not
Just read through part of this thread.. Still a while til my Llyr is done already gian-ing my next pair.. :mad:
Other than Llyr, EEA, Loake 1880 and Carmina, what are my best bets if being able to try on is important to me? I'm size 44-45. EEA is kind of out though, as they don't seem to keep this type of size on hand..
For Loake 1880, is it considered a step up from Llyr/EEA (or half step at least)? Metro Centrepoint and Heeren are the best places to try?
Is it possible to get quality handwelt at sub 1k?
Quote your answer for you
EEA and Loake 1880 pretty similar tier. Not sure if it's better than llyr.
Went to Llyr and EEA today.
I'm a size 43.
For llyr, if your feet width at the widest point just below your toes region is 11cm and above, you gotta get a width EE from them. The Oxfords last are all similar.
They don't have EE widths in stock and 6 weeks for pre-order. 330 per pair of GYW shoes.
EEA wise, I pretty much dig the dark brown patina City Hall Oxford but no sizes for UK 7 and up. 6 weeks for pre-order.
349 for City Hall Oxfords.
Extra 100 bucks if you want it sewn with Dainite Sole.
Dainite sole for me solely for the sake of being able to go coffeeshops without the fear of having my leather soles soak up the good liquids from the loos or heading off to afterwork drinks without worrying about alcohol stained floors.
Well.. Vibram slap ons are cheaper though..
Ans Dainite soles are slippery as well in their virgin stage.
Wore the heck outta my loake 1880 and was looking for similar alternatives.
