Ah ok. Sounds like you would save more money buying calf and sending it to patina... Quite a waste to pay a significant markup for colour when you don't like the materials key selling points.

The calf pairs in similar colors didn't give quite the same feel.. But ok la not in the market for a 1k pair of shoes yet lol, just sharing

Richness and depth of color also has a lot to do with how the leather is treated / dyed.
Aniline dyed leathers would be what you're looking for.
Look around at different makers.... For calf, you can be amazed at what you find.
There is a limit to what artificial patination can achieve.

Just for sharing : thinking of getting some new shoes and recently visited llyr (since price point is similar to loake and well, support local) and was advised that the GSS discount on now is only for selected RTW models, not all.


They did have a good stock of Saphir MDO though. Iirc it was $25.

On a side note the GBPSGD situation now changes the consideration a fair bit!

edit: The advert does say it's for select rtw and all pre-orders.

Is it only me but I find EEA's insole to be very hard. It takes damn long to mould your feet with that insole.

The interesting thing is, I find Archules, a cemented construction shoe, has nice soft insoles that mould to your feet fast.
