Wearing my 1st ever pair of (hand)welted shoes. Bought this mid last year after I started reading this thread.

17 months and 17 pairs of shoes later..... I've shaved my collection to 13 pairs.

Oh what a dangerous and slippery slope this path is.........

Meermin yes?

Yes, and still going strong... though I would recommend steering clear of them nowadays. Communication is painful and quite frankly, their "handwelted" range isn't all that fantastic for the price either.

If you're willing to gamble (and likely to lose) on a pair from them, their GYW range is pretty value for money. Just that the QC is really lousy and they take forever to break in.

Lol

I concurr with your above statement man. It takes like forever to break in for me. Probably on par with llyr break in time.

And yes QC is bad and sometimes I ponder if I should recommend Meermin to others should they ask me.

Have not tried the handwelted range but only the classic collection. Not to be mean but I donated em off in Sri Lanka a year ago..

Well.. Still like you, that was my first "proper" shoe man.

Yeah, their shoes are either a hit or miss kind (more misses than hits). A great starting point in the past but I think they've somewhat lost it along the way.

Looking at the $499 Septieme Laguer, is it still a good buy with this price point?

If you're aware of the markup and are comfortable with it, by all means

Though personally 499 i'd rather top up abit get Enzos or look at carmina/yanko

Where are u planning to get them from? AFAIK, their shoes are OEM including by AS and C&J. Prices will reflect the quality expectation, relative to English brands.
