Been following this thread for quite some time, lots of information

I am currently in UK for work. What will be a good brand to look at that is normally not avaliable or too expensive in Singapore for working shoes? Budget is around 300-500.

Do you mean 300 to 500 pounds ?
If yes then I would seriously consider C&Js

Thanks for the info or I should say warning. Personally I have not seen their handwelt shoes or their video.
There are really a lot of better options than the overpriced DW shoes especially with the quality they produce.
My friend had a horrible experience with them. Waited months for the shoe and when it arrived the shoes were so much bigger. Not sure how they screw up the measurements. But all in all the shoes were sent back to Korea twice. After he got them he was really pissed with all the screw ups and waiting and didn't even bother to wear them at all.

Pictures speak a thousand words.

G&G (also same for other houses of master handwelting)

Ignoring material (thin welt, synthetic midsole, prep) etc. Just note how "tightly" stitched DW's "esteemed handwelt" is compared to the usual lot.

Says alot... One can only hope that the title of handwelt for us shoe appreciators, not befall the same fate as Bespoke has in the tailoring world.

So he added Vibram to the front sole and changed the heels to JR heels with rubber and use dye to touch up and restore the sides of your heels?

yes, plus help me to do some maintenance to apply some cream on the shoe etc.... actually he charge me for $90 not $100.

This is by uncle song? How long it takes him to do ah? Price?
I need to resole my edetal de heels, i email them and they say will take 2-3weeks sia...
But its my regular beaters for work, so i cannot really afford 2-3 weeks without them lor... :(

who is uncle song?... actually he took about an hour to do it but I have no time to collect so wait 2 days.

he charged me $90 for the work.

to me is ok, it is just the sole anyway will wear out again. this guy I like him because he is responsible and caring.

One time one of my shoe kena a deep scratch, he actually sent it to another vendor to fix for me but without charging me extra. I was touched he can fix that deep scratch and more touch he did not charge me for extra.

Sometime is service that counts.

It would perhaps be easier if you give us the specific design you are interested in and the price range you are looking at.
Your initial question is really too general.

Apologies. I've always preferred sleeker lasts and I'm deeply in love with GG's lasts. For example:

Regent_-_GG7.jpg

Windsor_-_MH72.jpg

Sadly, GG's prices are beyond my budget. Are there any alternatives out there going for sub-$1k ?

For those 2 designs you have highlighted I think Vass can certainly pull it off, They do have a slightly different interpretation of the V cap though.
A last to your liking might be the K last.
The maker that comes the closest to the specific V cap that you showed, is St Crispin. But it would unfortunately be out of your budget.

septieme largeur is a good bet. Crispins also

Not Sg boutique prices however. Ship in or Eurotrip

Still many options as highlighted by a few bros, based on an impt assumption that sub 1k can include shoes costing up to $999 lol

Ahh, these sleek lasts are notorious for my pair of wide feet. If only my feet could feet into those.

You may want to consider Vass ('U' and 'K' lasts), Carmina ('Simpson' last) and Septieme Largeur ('199' last). All these are below $1k.

actually I am in love with red wine color recently... these pairs look like the red wine color I like.

may be go to DW or Ed to MTO one red wine which I believe can be lower than $1K.

DW? Really?? Considering u've already had experience with them and Ed.

On the same topic, not sure if mto is doable below $1k for Ed anymore....
