If a few days can collect, then it is not a full sole recraft. That will need to wait 2 weeks and cost $150.

A few pages ago someone posted the full price list of EEA repair works. Rubber sole was $100, and we were arguing is that similar to just a topy. Guess we will know in a few days' time.

Im guessing topy + heel block toplift

actually I don't quite understanding you talking... pardon me of lack of knowledge. anyway I will post the picture this Wednesday when the work is done.

Did you sent the shoes to a local service provider? If I'm not mistaken, locally, only Ed Et Al and Mason & Smith do provide recrafting services. For M&S, resoling works are sent to Japan and lead time is approximately 2 months. As for Ed Et Al: 2 - 4 weeks (as indicated in the price list). So I surmise that it's not a resole service since you mentioned you're collecting it tomorrow (only a few days' process).

If that service provider you mentioned quoted $100 for affixing rubber soles (vibram) to your shoes and only just that, that's unscrupulous.

Thank you for sharing... I am still learning all the knowledge and pardon me being so blur... anyway this guy I sent to is a reliable guy he helped me to work on few of my other shoes in the past with excellent service.

Besides changing the sole, he normally will do the who shoe maintenance and polish work for me .... there was one time one of my shoe kena scratch badly at the front I thought cannot fix, but he went all the way to help me to fix it without charging me a lot. So I feel is the service and the attitude that counts.

Also he is near my office and I dun need to run too far during lunch time.:s22::s22:

$100 for changing the soles and shoe care maintenance sounds reasonable. However, I'm relatively interested to discern his capability given the anomalous short timeframe (few days) stipulated to complete his task. All in all, do post pics when it's completed! TIA.

Is there a way we can tell from the look of a finished shoe what welted is it?

Cosmetic qualities hard to tell. Higher chance when u wear it esp for used shoes. Handwelt has no cork lining and if the midsole is good leather will provide a better supporting footbed

I need to resole the heel for my edetal single monk shoes real soon. Besides going back to the shop, any other recommendations? Preferably something I can get back on the spot or an hour, and open on weekends.

I arent ready to go to the neighbourhood mall basement cobbler. I think they are more key duplicate than shoe repair.

Just to give a heads up as I went down to Serangoon NEX today to resize my AE belt (stitched type)

Original Stitching

After resize and stitching from Keyshoe

Skill level can't compare to hand-stitching from Equus leather but at $18, is a lot cheaper than what other local cobblers are charging and their stitching actually looks worse, I'll post a few pics in the future on this.

Main point is, Zul (the boss) says he does goodyear-welt resoling. He isn't able to replace the cork filler with cork though (he did say he can uses rubber instead if the original cork filler is of bad condition). Cost is around $125 for half sole using Vibtech leather sole and he can actually order JR soles in for resole but the cost will go up to $160.

He claimed that he has a pair of AEs that is 25 years old and now his son is wearing it after he resoled it multiple times. CSB or not, no idea but anyone wanna give him a try? I'll probably go to him to test water when my beater shoes need a sole replacement.

Been following this thread for quite some time, lots of information

I am currently in UK for work. What will be a good brand to look at that is normally not avaliable or too expensive in Singapore for working shoes? Budget is around 300-500.
