Actually, I don't mind a dark brown shade. See if BallGag is also similarly game.

In this shade? And a similarly matching suede.

Mate, Thundermarch and I are working on a mixed media Adelaide with an exotic skin(peccary, llama or deerskin) Instead of suede. Would you be interested?

Another affordable "lobang" for GY-welted shoes, by Andrew Lock, in Benchgrade & Handgrade.

All leathers are sourced from Italian, German and French tanneries.

The benchgrade shoes are made in Spain and the handgrade shoes are made in Northampton, England.

Interesting..

Their benchgrade level are a decent entry despite limited models/lasts. Some models having closed channel sole stitching, oak bark tanned soles and these made in England.

I'm having this "constant deja-vu" of them having an uncanny resemblance to Alfred Sargent. Even their company's logo looks fairly identical. Hah.

The benchmade line will cost US$250 and the handgrade line US$450 on usual days, but now having sales.

The made-in-England shoes are made by Joseph Cheaney & Sons.

How was it?

Overall, wonderful experience with Mr. Philip Car & Jonathan Chiang.

I dropped by the shop suddenly w/o appointment and caught them chilling on the sofa. Mr. Philip was actually preparing to set off to airport, but he quickly get Jonathan to "re-open" the show for me. :D

They got me fitted with a few pairs of shoes and helped me determined my fitting size, while explaining to me about saint crispin's shoe making process, methodology, re-craft & resole services. And we also chat about vibram/topy of soles, metal toe taps and rubber soles, which StC is all capable of doing.

The shoes are absolutely beautiful, perfect finishing, and very comfortable to wear and walk in, which was explained by the fact that they used some high quality leather in replacement to metal shank used in general GY-welt.

The fit is surprisingly perfect. Waist of shoes are narrower, soles beveled, and Mr. Philip said I've no need to engage their bespoke service since my feet can get into their RTW range perfectly, unless I wanna burn my money, he don't mind taking it of course. Yeah, that's what he said. :s13:

I typically fit well into UK7 for most english shoes, but for StC, my perfect size is 6.5G instead.

Basically, you may get ur fit at Leong Tailor, choose your model and colours, order tru Jonathan and it will be made & delivered for you in 6-8 weeks time. Jonathan had brought in 32 pairs of StC shoes for clients to try, and he's not pushy to make me buy anything.

I wear the same in Meermin Hiro as I do in EdEtAl wholecut oxford/double monks. Both 0.5 size up from my usual UK9.

Hope this helps.
