My Carmina MTO Tassel Loafers arrived but disapointingly, I bought half a size too small. Fits very tightly, and having broad feet, it hurts on the sides. Should I try wearing it and stretching it out or sell it ? It did not slip in easily, quite a struggle actually.

Is your leg bigger than the insole? If it is, I would personally recommend u to sell. U can stretch the leather with shoe tree or shoe stretcher.. but if insole size is smaller than your feet, chances are u going to have a hard time walking.

Saying based on leather boots experience.

To me as long not length-wise issue (too long/short), but the front width narrow a bit.

I will wear few times to break in, for boots the first few times will be a bit pain (for width a bit narrow), but by 4th-5th wear fits like a glove.

Amen to Loake 1880

I think there's any other shoe out there that represents great vfm at that price point

Just wait for Robinson Shoes (online store) promo (normally once a month) - 15-20% off.

Loake 1880 series is a good start, but will be around $275+- at 20% + depending on currency rate.

Just received my first pair of 2017.. unfortunately I noticed for the left side of the shoes that there were excess leather causing my whole cut to not be perfectly shaped. Any comments if this is considered as a defect ?

I'm sorry to hear that.
The problem here isn't really one of excess leather, but rather, one that has arisen due to imperfect lasting.
Unfortunately, this is actually a fairly common problem with RTW GYW shoes. Especially below a certain price point.
Such shoes are inevitably machine lasted, and wholecuts especially, are a little more difficult to last, even if by hand.
This causes the bowing outwards of the topline of the shoe, and will cause a bit of a "gape" around your ankle area when you wear the shoe.
I hope Herring would acknowledge a degree of "fault" on their part and offer an exchange. But I have come across makers (at a higher price point) that have said that such "problems" of this nature were within acceptable QC standards at their factory.
Good luck.

Thanks thundermarch. I always learn new things when u speak.

Was going to order a special pair of whole cuts for my dad from their premium range so I'm hoping this exchange would work out.

On a similar note and at this price point, would anyone be able to recommend other brands ?

Hi, I saw that some shoes in Robinsonshoes website are labelled as F width or G width. Are they truely wider than the D or E width offered by some local shoe manufacturer?

It is almost impossible to compare widths between different makers based on the alphabet "value" assigned.
The system is fairly arbitrary, but suffice to say that standard width is most comonly defined as either "E" or "F" width. Which means to say that regardless of maker, "D" is almost always narrow, and "G" is almost always wide, for a particular last of a particular maker.
It would be impossible to say, however, if E width for maker X is narrower than F width for maker Y.

Next, one would also need to consider the "natural width" of the last. For example, for EB, 363MOD last in standard width is wider than 2102B last in standard width.
Which means, in this case, the alphabet value counts for next to nothing when discussing width.
