Hello Gents!

This is Ellson from The Quarters. We are a local label that curates quality menswear brands to cater to the gentlemen's wardrobe here in Singapore. We will be launching officially in February 2018.

We have received increasing number of queries about the availability of Portugese Shoemaker, Carlos Santos, in Singapore. Hence, we are pleased to announce that the very first brand we are working closely with is Portugese Shoemaker, Carlos Santos.

Carlos Santos is one of the leading makers of quality shoes, made and crafted using traditional methods. It has established a name for itself, up against European shoemakers, such as Carmina, Enzo Bonafe, Yanko amongst others.

To celebrate our launch in the coming two months, as well as Carlos Santos' very first foray into Singapore, we'll be launching individual exclusive Made-To-Order (MTOs) and Group MTO (GMTOs) for the beautiful Goodyear Welted shoes by Carlos Santos. For the MTOs, there are 13 different styles and 12 different signature patina finishings, which Carlos Santos are known for, for you to choose from.

As our website is still undergoing works right now, we will be taking in orders via Instagram and The Quarters' forum thread here on HWZ (As I'm unable to post link here, you may search "The Quarters :: Adding a Sartorial Touch to Gentlemen's Wardrobes" on HWZ Forums -> Lifestyle -> Fashion & Grooming). Do follow us at @thequarters.sg on Instagram and The Quarters on Facebook to stay tuned for our upcoming MTOs and GMTOs!

Also, it would be greatly appreciated if you could give us a shoutout to your friends and families whom are shoe enthusiasts, or simply looking to invest in quality pair of shoes!

Thank you for your time, gents!

Cheers,
Ellson

Hi there! Anyone interested in a brand new pair of Carlos Santos Classic Oxford in Black in size UK 7.5 (234 last)?

I bought it from Skoaktiebolaget and only received it early this mth. I'm selling because it's a bit too big for me and I've gotten myself another pair.

I'm asking for S$350. PM me if interested. Thanks.

Guys

Wanted to ask about sizing for dress shoes. My running shoe is US size 9 (euro 42.5). However, for my dress shoes, sometimes 41 fits well and sometimes 40.5 fits well and I can slide a finger in between my heel and the shoes. Kind of strange? For those stiff leather sole, I feel the heels tends to slip until I wear it longer till the sole gets season. Is this normal or my sizing is too big?

Sizing is too big if there is heel slip. Heel should be snug. Leather shoes will expand slightly with wear. Besides length sizing, you may want to explore width sizing to better suit your foot shape. width sizing are indicated by alphabets. Adding an additional insole may help with heel slippage

This is generic advice which is possibly misleading. Heel slip is not uncommon for new shoes with stiff soles.

Reason is simple. The foot rolls while the sole doesn't want to bend. This results in heel slip.

Hard to tell if the fit is bad or good from his description. As long as it's comfortable I wouldn't worry too much.

Will our feet shrink in cold countries vs hot countries like SG?

Is it true that boots are typically sized higher?

I am 7D on brannock and wear 5.5 on Yanko 362, thinking of getting a carlos santos boots.

Smallest they have is 6F, not sure if that's a good fit. Based on AFPOS and Skoaktie advice, both said its fine - but not sure if that's sales talking.

Anyone have experiences?

Hi kappanaut123,

I have received your PM on HWZ. However, I am unable to reply to your PM as I do not have enough rights as of now. Could you drop us a message via our Facebook or Instagram instead?

Apologies for the trouble.

Recent got a pair of expensive shoes (>800)

Hi all

Happy Xmas! Recently I decided to get a pair of expensive shoes rather than buying the 100-200 range and replacing it every other year.

I was doing quick research on the bare essentials to take good care of this new investment and one of the things i saw was

1. Saphir Leather Cleaner & Conditioner
2. Saphir Gloss wax polish
3. Shoe Brush (horse hair)
4. Cedar shoe tree

Is this just nice or an overkill? Am also thinking wheres the best to get them from... i saw a couple of online sites that are selling the above two for under 30 bucks each

Thanks!!

Shoe trees (doesn't need to be cedar), horsehair brush, and pommadier cream (doesn't need to be saphir).... Are more or less all you need.

Do they have the round type? I presume flat ones not suitable for dress shoes?

The thin flat ones do look nice and dressy too. But if you want a traditional and conservative look, then probably stick with round laces.
