You're right that there used to be trees labelled specifically for 202/606, and the slimmer 82/888 lasts, but that seems to have stopped as of last year. They only sell a standard pair of shoe trees now.

Even so, it bugs the crap out of me when I don't have the EG-branded trees. I have a pair of Westminsters and CC Dovers without EG trees and they just look incomplete.

It's actually possible to order similar(better finishing, even) shoe trees directly from Spring Line.

I feel the same way like you, it's like a well made sword without its rightful sheath?

was thinking whether to get renovateur or the collonil 1909 leather cream but i can't cfm if there's mink oil in the 1909. but i guess i probably wldnt go wrong with either.

To be honest, I think the price of Collonil is pretty close to the price of Saphir creme being sold in Tangs so if you have the Tang's Citibank card it's best to get the Saphir instead although that's just my 2 cents.

Anyone can give me some expert advice? Just got my 1st middle price range shoe from Meermin: MTO Dark Brown Museum Calf and got a bit of heel slippage.

Not sure if its 1/2 size too big or because the shoe is very hard. Is it normal for the slippage to reduce/stop once the shoe breaks in or should the shoe not have any slippage at all right from the start?

bit of heel slippage is normal before the shoe has been broken in. hard to tell if it is indeed half size too big purely by your description.

When I was working at Cheaney we used to just manually flex the shoes to give the customers a feel of how the shoes would fit once the soles are broken in. Most customers don't mind but it's a horror show for people who expect shoes to be completely perfect and creaseless.

If it is indeed half size too big then maybe insoles or thicker socks will help

If you want to support local retailers and get ur trees in a jiffy, theres AQ, EEA, sellers on Carousel etc.

If you dont mind the wait to get directly from source then Taobao. (I do this)

If there's a lasted tree option though, I would go for that. And for me each of my shoes has trees. YMMV

That said, I got a shock myself when I realize the cost of my purchased shoe care product had ballooned to such a figure, like what dark_alley mentioned, it's worth two more pairs of shoes... sigh...

I guess it depends on storage condition, anything from 1 - 3 years? There are those who belong in the "as long as it smells ok" school of thought though.

For me I think as long as it performs up to your expectations. I have a can of wax that doesn't seem to feel as smooth as my other waxes cos I used it more often. That is a sign to me that a new can is likely due.

Quality of materials and construction definitely much higher than Carmina. A notch below EG/G&G ; depending on which styles, maybe even better.
