Is rad russell a ok brand to buy????
The 1 i saw is at 208 at robinson..... but 50 dollars off.....

Any1 wearing it ?
As mentioned and asked many times before, no.

Thanks. Zooming in on one Design Loake model where the origin is from India. But it is full calf leather, any issues with that? Or should buy those made in UK?
If you are concerned with price then I say just get it. Made in India doesn't necessarily mean inferior quality if the QC is good. Better a calf gyw shoe made in India than a corrected gyw shoe made in England.

Not aware of any shops carrying. U can try some of the cobblers/shoe care names mentioned.

As to matching shade, u need to have reasonable expectations. Never seen exact matches apart from black; close at best.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm thinking of doing just spot touch up instead of whole dyeing.

It is actually for a bag.

I am curious how does meltonian cream fare against the popular brands such as the renovator & Venetian cream. There's one going at carousel for $15, and I believe you can get them through Amazon, even cheaper.

I would tend to agree (at least as inferred from the term 'doing over') that 'darkening' a lighter patina sounds more achieveable than the reverse.

Although I suspect either way would still involve stripping off the existing patina then re-applying the new patina, in which case stripping off a lighter patina might be easier as well.

Would also suspect that there would be some extent of 'damage' to the leather each time the patina is being stripped off, presumably with the use of fairly strong chemicals/solvents, so that could result in a limit of the number of times one can re-do a patina.

One of the ways to strip/lighten the previous creames and polishes applied is to use the renomat. However, depending on how generous you are, you might have to apply at least 2 - 3 times of creme followed by Reno to get it "nourished" again. i would recommend applying a small Dab on the inner hidden heel before to test-drive first, because some shoes' finish just come off together 😱

Hi.

I'm not sure of the brands you mentioned.

I read about saphir, tarrago, meltonian and woly.

This is mainly for bags.

If Dandy could do it, it's definitely possibly. There's probably a limit to how many times it can be done. From lighter to darker is also much easier. How it was dyed originally also makes some difference.

Made in India Loakes at least better than ******* Rad Russell (gosh some people need to actually read previous pages...)

But need to manage expectations of course

I would say venetian cream is on par with reno. But Reno strips waxes also so shouldnt use so often compared to venetian. But conditioning leather isnt a weekly affair anyway.

As for their wax polishes, typical less pigment and saturation than saphir, which actually makes them favored by some on expensive pairs with patina as you get some translucency to the coat compared to the strongly coloured saphir wax

Yeah, I owned 1 pair before. After 6 months, it was dumped into the garbage bin, right where it belonged.

Worst shoes I ever owned.
Then again it's better than the $10+ ones which a friend bought from Qoo10 which didn't even last a week before the soles split

Well, if patina is your thing why don't you consider getting John of Mason & Smith to do it for you or even Edetal? I can even vouch that their patina services are all done BY HAND....

John also offers a patina service on MTO crust Carmina shoes as well in case anyone is interested

Unfo anything in SG is terribly overpriced. :(

At that pricing might as well ship in Carminas from Skoak. Pay GST also shld have some dollars left over

My first carminas arrived!!! Polo suede chukka with 2 eyelets, soller last.

The left shoe fits slightly tight on the middle part, which is weird because I have slightly bigger right feet. But I think they will expand to mould onto my feet. Super nice!
