Which part of Japan?

Btw, japanese shoes are well made even those you buy from Isetan. I guess it because they walk alot so they really need to be able to go through rain or shine.

I suspect spigola wait times may be pretty drastic. Maybe like delos, wait 1 year that kind.

Alamak, that fella is back again ah. I really don't understand man. Is like stepping into Cut or Wooloomooloo and arguing with the clientele that Jack's Place is just as good. What's the point? Sure, different people got different tastes, but one is better than the other, and who's to fault the person who's willing to spend more on the better meal?

No there is no room for discussion about steak. When I bring my son out to eat any steak, be it kpt, jacks place or any atas place he must say limpeh cook the best steak. Or else next is he eat grass not the cow eat grass.

End of discussion. I win.

I found on qoo10 search for penny loafers. Seller is prompt and reliable. Leather upper and rubber sole. Dun believe what they say about goodyear welting or handstitch is put together with glue. Watch out for the fit. Korean sizing is have longer and slimmer feet. Quality wise I think at this price point can't find even correct grain upper in retail.

nice sic, got some decent looking shoes there

Hmm means there is no japanese maker that is currently large enough to supply out of their country yet? Yea yea please keep me informed if your friend manages to open route. I adore this kind of exclusivity. wow still need to find a translater ah.. hais.

Tokyo has a lot of bespoke shoe makers.

And yes! Japan's Isetan has astounding well made shoes at very affordable prices!

The Japanese take a lot of pride in all artisanal goods. They think of it as an art rather than just a wear and throw item.

Their romance with handmade gooods is beautiful and amazing.

Yes, i couldnt agree more. Japanese have very high nationalistic pride. Products made by them will have the words "Made in Japan" on them and i dont suppose you will see japanese brands with the words "Made in China" on them. So their products are well-made & respected but rarely well known

So are isetan's shoes on par with the italian shoes, Santoni, Belutti etc?
I only heard of italian shoes being the best, but not the japanese.

Go to Japan, wallet lighter by a lot already. :-(

I wonder how cheap their shoes can be?

I think your son will be much better off by eating grass. Too much steak is no good for health, especially we dont know what else is inside the meat nowadays.

Seannie... Take it from some one neutral. Ur definition of a snob is offensive (at least to me). Just because someone expects quality does not make one a snob. Just because I want the best for myself does not make me a snob. A snob is someone who look down on others believing that he/she is better. Argo, u can still be a snob in tattered clothing and slippers. Vice versa, wearing nice clothing and shoes does not make u one either.

Berluti/Santoni when comparing the RTW selection?

Not quite but that's as their RTW is priced many times less than those brands.

At the Berluti/Santoni price point a semi-bespoke option opens up which will be considerably better than anything Berluti/Santoni offers.

If you want Quality you have to pay for it.

As I am reading the forum here, I realize that people want cheap price for high quality Italian leather shoes and worst they wanted it to be handmade. First, there are no slave labor in the western countries or they have been long been abolished. An entry level price for a pair of all leather shoes and lucky if made in Italy will put you back $300 minimum. The mid range will be around $500 to $700. The higher range will be $800 to $1000 and beyond if you want the premium ones.
If you take the cost of a good of mid range price leather shoes and divide by 365 days, it will be less than $2/day.
So if you think your feet is worth less than the entry level pair of leather shoes, please go buy those cheapy ones and destroy your own two feet.:D
At the end of the day is only a pair of shoes, use it if it gives you comfort to your feet, hey even a $30 dollars pair can give you comfort to your feet but I am not sure about the style or real leather involved.

Unfortunately not, the person who created the U and F lasts for Vass is an Italian maker called Ugolini who is another shoe maker.

This particular shoemaker is a Japanese and does bespoke shoes with a new Semi-bespoke line which has been introduced recently.

He has expanded his business size considerably though.

I read arch's comment as meaning to say Vass (through Ugolini) creating U and F for the Japanese market... or maybe I am reading this wrong.

I agree that spending on at least mid-range shoes will be better in the long term. That was what I was advocating all along. (btw, Italian shoes are not so hot with me)

However, there is one thing I would say in favour of those who buy cheaper stuff. At least they get to try on those shoes and ensure a good fit, and they do it conveniently. None of the better mid-range shoes are in Singapore! We got to travel or gamble online to get those.

Unfortunately, it sucks in Singapore. There is nothing much to offer in term of range. Travel abroad to buy is the best, I would not suggest online as every design is different in fitting. Another design for your viewing.

And Et Ed Al is trying to fill that gap in the local shoe industry. I wonder if there is enough interest in welted shoes for him to make any $$$...

You are obviously a fan of Italian lasts. :s13: The toe spring is enormous though. In my humble opinion, those are like elf shoes. Good or bad, it's up to the individual. Who is the maker?

Peal & Co for Brooks Brothers - Brown Captoe Blucher 8.5 U.S.

The first 2 may be a little out of your budget, but you can bargain. They are not exactly entry level brands, so they may be a good deal at that price. The third may be what you are looking for. You decide.

Try to buy those so that I can't look at them anymore. :s13:

Look for Dorchester in the Mayfair last. Those are more pointy.

Thanks for the recommendation, considering it... at the same time, after reading the thread, thinking should I consider getting a pair from edetal as well to rotate. Also, the Herrings are pretty tempting with the free shoe tree but I have no idea which last shape is nice physical as I don't have a comparison.
