Working Shoe for Young Exec

I've been there to ask before, and got rejected as well. Couple of places I've asked also only do Vibram, not Topy. I also asked if they know anyone who does taps, and they all said no.

Wow i didn't even know kiwi has mahogany wax!

Has anyone tried collonil? How does that compare to the usual suspects?

Similar experience, I ended up buying taps from ebay instead. Daiso actually sells taps as well, but I tried them once and theirs wear off pretty quick compared to the Guard brand from ebay.

I've tried Collonil's 1909 creme de luxe. Not bad, $20 for 100ml. Have not tried the rest of their range, but if you're interested, the Master-fix at Esplanade Xchange has the full 1909 range (creams, waxes, sprays, etc).

Camper shoe for weekend....

Got these last year from the UK and did not get to wear it. It will be ready for this weekend photo shoot project to run around in these comfy shoes. They are camper shoes.

Just to share, Mirrco at Bylands Building quoted $25 for Vibram half sole without vibram at heels.
Another bro also mentioned $25 for Vibram at the shop in Bishan J8, but I do not know if it is with heels or hot.

I am considering to do Vibram for the heels too since the heels' outer corners get worn off pretty fast

I love Camper shoes. Very comfortable and durable. I got 4 pairs all for causal wear and one of them is more than 8 years.

Camper is actually the brand that got me to research on shoes. I loved their loafers on display at Taka last year, but the price was really sky high.

But then again, those I saw were loafers, while yours are sneakers...

That was what I read too. I have my shoes topied, and the Topy itself is quite strong. The tip still wears out though. The weakest part is actually the glue used for mine, which seems to result in slight peeling of the topy.

My advice for getting topy, give the guy all the time he needs to glue.

Regarding difference between topy and vibram, if you did a reasonably decent search, you would know that topy is just topy, but there are a hell many types of vibram soles. So it is hard to compare topy and vibram online as you don't know what grade of vibram people are talking about online. But for some reason people online who use vibram experience premature peeling.

The super old cobbler at mirrco is very honest and reliable, but he doesn't have topy like you said.

I think $25 for the sole only. But I must say they are pretty business driven and I think the mark-up is high. I didn't touch the heel because I think the original heel is strong enough. IMO, the heel can be easily replaced anyway, but not the sole.

The above is a classic example of a pair of all leather dress shoe or working shoe. I bought them in 2003 and they were Made in Italy. I paid $300 for them then. The cost of ownership is less than 10 cents a day for 10 years of usage.

I enquire about the lousy quality of the shoes....this auntie (was actually selling another brand) say shoes cannot keep for too long....must take out wear once buy....but cannot wear everyday also.

I got this pair of Clarks.....bought in UK very long time ago.....last year take out wear....the bottom sole comes loose from shoe body....lucky i was already near my flat after coming back from work.
I did use super glue to glue back but havent got the courage to wear again.
Worth to get cobbler to thread it ?

By the way, I more used to wearing casuals or sneakers.
Somehow, for me. hard to find a pair of leather shoes in which the heel wont rubbed on my heel skin.....always blisters.

It is quite normal for welted shoes to last that long, from what netizens say.

As for the advice the auntie gave you, doesn't that apply to every shoe, lousy or good?

I only had two hush Puppies so far. One turned out to be so tight at the ball of the foot, I got rid of it. The other one, I'm still wearing it since I got it 2 or 3 years ago. But then again mine are the stitched ones, maybe you guys chose the glued ones?

My neighborhood cobbler is using a rubber call "rock stone". Not sure of it quality/durability vs Vibram or Topy but it seem to be pretty lasting for me. His workmanship is not bad and I had tried it on 2 different pair of my Hush Puppy shoes (he charge $26 per pair usually but I manage to get a slight discount cause I had always been using his service). I had been rotating the 2 pairs for the last 4 years+ and only recently, I was about to replace one of the rubber sole due to it being about to wear out. However, just before I can do it, the shoe is starting to split so I just discard it. The other pair can still maybe last 1/2 year more or so.
