You should never use renovateur for new shoes, it's is not used to shine a shoe! It's for you to remove build up of shoe polish

Oh didn't know it will remove polish. I thought its for cleaning away of dirt n stains then moisturising the leather. So I used it to clean my new shoes then add a later of polish.

Actually all cream and polish contain solvent which may remove old polish, especially neutral polish. Edwin told uncle to make sure dry in between layers.

I always tot reno is used to nourish shoes, use only when need deep nourishing. If shoe is regulary maintain cream is good enough

Uncle not so rich to use reno as polish remover or shoe cleaner...

The columbus tooth paste tube cost only a few dollars and works too.

Saphir Renovateur is just a moisturiser / conditioner. It provides nourishment to the leather. Since it does contain some solvents, it can and will remove a bit of polish.

However, if you want to clean / strip built up layers of polish, you need to use Saphir Renomat.

Just depends how you want to handle your shoe care routine. For me, I use Renovateur & Cream, occasionally will use wax as well (depending on mood).

Cream contains pigments for your leather, but does not do as well as Renovateur for nourishment.

You never know how long that pair of new shoes has been sitting on the shelf. A treatment of Reno wouldn't hurt.

Uncle says: protect the leather (i assume not suede) with cream and wax before wearing the first time.

No need to put rubber sole yet. Need the learher sole to wear out a bit then can glue something on or else no grip for the glue. After wear and tear then can tell where your feet strike when walking.

If you're going to put rubber sole, you can do it from day 0. All proper cobblers will sand away / rough up the leather sole, so the topy will be able to adhere properly.

Sukhumvit Spotlight Issue 5: Focus on Shoes in Bangkok by Spotlight Guy | Big Mango Bar

Thanks for the suggestion! Anyone tried this before? Not sure if the shoes are quality. I mean vs the likes of Ed Et Al (off the rack) and Loakes which will cost me similar prices..

EDIT: on a side note.. looks like they need about a week to get the product ready. I only have 4 day in BKK. :(

but then u will never feel the joy of wearing pure leather sole. uncle no money to keep resoling that's why i have to topy / vibram.

further more if you go clubbing / drinking have to wear rubber sole which will not stink after waddling thru ponds of vomit and piss. ;)
