A long overdue review of my carmina tobacco suede adelaide 80391 due to my busy schedule for past few weeks.
I have been eyeing this carmina tobbaco suede from skoaktiebolaget since their first collaboration with manolo. Apparently their first batch of adelaide sold out within hours of their launch on their online store. When I get to know about this beautiful model, they are already in their 2nd batch with limited sizes left.
I am about to give up and participate in the Meermin's old english II mock up in copper suede when chanced upon a posting of carmina 80391 on skoaktiebolaget instagram. Decided to shot them a comment on size availability and they reverted by emailing them to ask for size.
From the email exchange, they told me only 1 pair is left from this model on size 8UK. Imagine my excitement when I got this news! Did some research online and realized I am either 7.5UK or 8UK. Took the gamble and went for the last pair in 8UK when they mentioned they won't be restocked in the near future at least for 2014. Come with 10% discount as well!
Initially impression when received the shoe is how refined and high quality the suede is. Compared to my Meermin classic suede range, carmina suede feels soft and smooth to the touch. Like baby skin kinda of smoothness... Their suede napping is another level of top notch quality. Stoking the suede into either direction present the suede with different shade of tobacco brown. One direction present a darker shade and the other direction with a lighter shade...Show the versatility of carmina suede...

#80391 is in RAIN last, hence the toe area is roomier and the heel area slightly wide. When I test wear them at home, it feels a bit loose on the heel area. Toe area is just nice for me with enough room to wiggle. length and instep is good as well. But wearing them out prove otherwise, I realize that it is slightly big for me, particularly on the heel area. My feet tend to slip sideway to left and right therefore making my feet ache. I guess my actual size for RAIN last should be 7.5UK albeit same with Loake capital last size.
Fortunately I did what others did when it is slightly too big, placing insole in the shoe. Surprisingly, the fit feel perfect. Heel problem gone and my feet feel comfortable after long day of wearing them without aching. I am enjoying wearing this pair more and more. In fact they are the go to shoe whenever I go out now, be it office or causal setting!
Overall I felt carmina has live up with its name on manufacturing top notch quality suede unparallel to other shoe makers. There is even a comment on SF stating that
he is disappointed with EG suede quality after owning carmina suede!
For it suede quality vs price, I feel it is definitely worth getting them. I am aiming for shell model which they are also renowned for... Cheers!
