I would never buy double monk online because of my high instep. Very hard to gauge whether the shoes can fit me nicely or not.

Hmm then oxfords would be a bigger no-no online? Which leaves derbies..

I can never get my oxford's 'eyelets' to be tied closed together. But I can at least still wear my shoes.

For double monks, if i cannot buckle properly, the shoe cannot be worn.

I can't decide between Hunt (Wing Brogue; 109 last) and Ramsey (Double Monk; 99 last).

If meermin's hiro last works for you, the 99 last should do as well.

Loake 1880 line on Taobao is almost twice as expensive compared to Herring's

Didn't see anything competitively priced unless its those cemented fashion shoes which I doubt people in this thread indulge in, correct me if I'm wrong.

Besides buying online often involves sizing questions to the retailer so I reckon most folks here prefer an anglo-sphere vendor due to their proximity to the brands and been conversant in fluent english.

Taobao good for accessories though.

Another shoe care question:

Hey guys, can anyone recommend a leather conditioner or any other leather care product that can help increase the water resistance of calf leather on boots? These are dress boots in tan leather, so I would be looking to buff them up to a shine with some polish after applying the conditioner.

Preference would be local products, not too concerned about the price diff b/w local and online retailers as I need it quick.

Deer bone is meant for cordovan and not calf leather.
You should just use cream and wax on your shoe. The brand does not matter so much.

Basically it's a shoe so crappy that all folks wear to tear and throw.

Anyone care to comment on the size of the brand? Would an US size 8D fit as expected? Is there anything else I should be aware?

Yea don't bother. I had a pair as my work shoes. The soles was worn in less than 1 year, till there's a hole in the sole. I can literally feel the ground when I walk with this shoes. What's more is that they are not replaceable at all and cost me around 100 odd? Better off investing in a decent pair of leather dress shoes.
