You'll most likely get hit with the GST. Both shoes are over SGD 200.

One only need to pay GST if the cost, including shipping charges, is more than S$400. Thus, u won't kenna GST for the Knightbridge, which is already using calf leather for the upper. if this is your first pair of calf leather shoe, u will then know why corrected grain shoe sucks...

Churchill is using calf leather for the upper and lining. This one confirm kenna GST as the shoe itself before shipping is already more than 200 UKP.

I'm considering a pair of burgundy double monks, and it's between Herring's Shakespeare II and Ed Et Al's Merlion.

Anyone have any information or experience to share with regard to these two brands? How do the two compare against each other?

Heh, I was leaning toward the Herring's, too. Not that I don't want to support local products, but the overall design of the Herring's look more classic, and only for about S$50 more. I guess the heritage of English shoes is a strong plus factor, too.

Most of their shoes + shipping will not push you over this $400 mark.

On shoe trees, are the premium shoe trees at herringshoes made from cedar wood? They look great, but the folks at herringshoes have told me via email that to be honest, the cedar trees do a better job. Not sure if that's really true or they are just trying to clear their cedar tree stock.

Hmm... I am thinking perhaps the unpolished cedar shoe trees have greater surface area to absorb moisture?
