just went to take a look at mandarin. They dun haf the lapis blue one. which is what i am interested in.

the purple is quite dope also. i think sir paul himself is wearing the purple one.
the pebble grey looks more grey in real life, rather than brown.

but paying that amt for a purple shoe, no way for me. pebble grey, the quirkiness is not there.

even using my 10% club21 discount, $1900 is kinda too steep for me.
$1200 I might consider.

Big difference. I believe the 1880 line uses calf leather and the latter uses corrected grain. Though all of them are Goodyear welted I believe. The L1 and the shoemakers lines are definitely sub par in terms of quality of materials and construction. I wouldn't come near any of loake's other lines besides the 1880s.

So I guess mine is supposed to be better. Yet I still ended up with that heel defect. What really irritated me was that the Loakes customer service just stopped replying to my email suddenly. After a while I also forgot about it and by the time I remembered it again, I just decided to forget it and write it off as an unpleasant experience.

I didn't ask for an exchange, all I wanted to know is if it was something that I did to cause it to spoil. At that time I didn't use a shoehorn occasionally when wearing it.

But to have them just stop replying halfway was seriously unexpected.

Does anyone have any recommendation of a good cobbler to put vibram soles on ? Just got a pair of C&J Marston and was looking to get the sole done.... as the guy that did my last pair of loakes did a bad job looking for recomendations.

Also has anyone tried Vass shoes recently?

How do you work out which Carminas to order if your living in S'pore?

i didn't finish reading your reply on plal. ya. i wear a UK7 so they had and still carry alot in my size. I'd still suggest the more premium Herrings collections made by Cheaneys because for English shoes, you really pay for what you get.

Or you can save up for a little longer and get a really good pair from Carminas directly. Including shipping my 310 euro shoe costed me 520 SGD. Not one bit of regret and definitely cheaper than a pair of C & Js, and cheaper than a pair of Carminas from The Armoury.

You can try "KIPS N KWIK" at Bishan Junction 8 Basement 1. Cost $25-28.
I did my Vibram sole addon there for all my Allen Edmonds shoes.

On top of that I know what size to get in the inca / rain last cos it's the same last as meermin's new rey or so I heard and I have two pairs of the new reys. I haven't decided which to get on their webstore yet cos they have limited pairs but I'm looking at this new brand now called Andrew Lock. Seems interesting.

For new shoes, I'll try to wear them for 2-3 hrs a day for a week.
This is to get the sole roughed up and cork filling, in the mid sole, to mould to my feet.
I get my AEs from ebay. Hard to get US size 12E here in Singapore.

Hey Martin,

For loafers, I'll definitely get cordovan. That's my next target shoe. Loafers look a little plain and plus with too many creases, it'll look even less formal and less dressy and more sloppy.

I went to the armoury. It's near 中环。I dropped by a year back only because I was in HK for work so I won't suggest going there intentionally as well.

I noticed you asked about AEs. I have friends in the US so at times I will order seconds from the AE shoe bank if I see something I like and get them to send it to me. You can try that if you have friends residing there. Half the price. Nothing wrong with seconds usually
