Dear brothers & sisters,
I stumbled upon this thread a few days ago, to my good fortune.
As it is, I have got problems getting a good pair of leather shoes. Or maybe, it has been a case of me looking in the wrong direction. Thus far, my purchases have been Bonia, Rad Russel, Alain Delon etc. Nothing against these brands, just that maybe my usage is very HEAVY (Btw, not talking about my weight, I weigh about 75kg. Haha).

I easily spend at least $200 on shoes every year (about $100 per pair). Problem is, they do not last beyond 9 months, averagely. So, I did my Maths, $200 x 5 years = $1000!
So, I reckon, instead of spending this amount of money, I would rather get shoes with really good quality & longevity.
To cut long story short, after reading through some of your threads, I pulled the trigger on a pair of Loake Savoy yesterday! Am hoping that it will last more than 5 years. If it suits me, may purchase another pair. Am super looking forward to receiving it soon. So, like a kid about to open his X'mas gift, I am excited but would also like to get advice from you experts:
1. I intend to put on a rubber sole. Adviseable? If so, should I do it immediately before
wearing or after wearing? Also, where can I go to have these soles put on?
2. In future, when I need to repair/refurbish my shoes, where do you recommend that I
visit?
3. How do you all maintain your shoes? How often do you polish them?
I understand that some of the threads here do address the above questions. But problem is, I need to read through most of them again, so very time-consuming lah. I would greatly appreciate if you, brothers & sisters, can take some minutes to provide me with your precious advice.
