What kind of goodyear welt leather shoes are sold in Singapore? I never ever see any of the reputable brands here.

Anyway, what are the reasonably-priced goodyearwelt brands? that means that the price is not marked up by much more than the price in country of manufacture.

hi, i wanted to get a pairing of shoes from herring, but i'm quite worried abt the uk sizing.

Since i wear an ecco 43, is the equivalent uk size 9?

i know the website does provide a size conversion chart, but i'm also aware that there are many different charts around...

thanks

Have you not been reading the thread?

And I find your last sentence to be a total joke. No mark up then profit from what? May as well be a shoe charity foundation.

You have to take into account the last of the shoe. Even after size conversion, sizing can be totally off due to the shape of the shoe.

Even if you didn't have time to read the entire thread, in the last 2-3 pages, we have discussed multiple brands already.

Hi All,

I am noob here when comes to purchasing leather shoes, usually get my shoes off the rack without much consideration.
Due to nearing wedding, intend to get a pair of shoes from Ed de tal but wondering if theres a need to put additional soles on.

No disrespect to the quality of the shoes but by looking at it, the soles seem a little delicate.

Like to know whats the usual practice after one has acquired a new pair of shoes...
Thanks in advance.
:)

I don't topy and abuse the shiznit outta mine - wear in the rain, wear repeatedly to clubs... So far no problems.

Topys are a divisive topic amongst shoe enthusiasts.

I topy. I also use heel taps.

My gait wears holes extremely fast in the sole and heel so I would rather just get the topy replaced rather than send the shoe for sole replacement. When the sole and filling becomes too spongy, I will get the shoe recrafted back at the factory.

Ultimately, scuff up your soles a bit before your wedding, or you might faceplant in the aisle. New leather soles are slippery.
(New topys are slippery as well anyway, but less so)

Lol. Completely new leather soles + hotel ballroom carpet = faceplant (be careful not to take down the missus with you!)

And I'm sure we've all heard about the urban legend regarding the staircase entrance to fullerton's ballroom and the bride with a halter top wedding dress...

I digress - with my new leather soles, since I do not topy, I make it a point to walk across the hdb carpark on the way to the MRT. The grit is a super fast way to scuff your sole effectively...

I got quoted 47 to topy sole and heel for a pair. Reasonable?

I pay $23 for Topy for Sole at Mirrco.
You don't need to topy the heel. (I think what they sell for Heel Topy is actually heel replacements).
You can get heel taps if you want, but those are only approximately $3. Heel taps will affect the way you walk, and you may not like them.

I'm curious, should we wear a pair of new leather shoes a few times first before sending it for Topy or just send the pair of new shoes straight to be done?

And there's this two major brands, Topy and Vibram.

Anyone who has done it care to share the experience?

From my experience, topy before you wear. The cobbler will rough-out regardless to even out. So having a new uniform surface will means less to sand down.

For sole, I'll go for Vibram.

Metal toe tap

Anyone in Singapore can do flushed metal toe taps? Recently got a pair done by B Nelson while resoling and I think it is nice. But rather uneconomical to send every pair of dress shoes I have for such operation.

Congrats to those who managed to buy their Edetal shoes!

Went around 3pm plus but no more size 40 for the brown Outram and Rochor :(. Have to wait for next batch which will arrive before Christmas.

Shop was packed!

Lucky me, I managed to get what I wanted except for the cognac Cityhall :(.

I was very, very satisfied with the quality that went into the shoe especially at that price point. Quality of leather has been upped substantially and the bevelled waist was a nice touch.

Probably gonna finish them up myself but very well played by Edwin :s13:
