What do you guys think of Design and Comfort (D&G) leather shoes?

It sure is not high end but do you think the design is pretty good, decent enough or old fashion or simply crap or?

Even during the times when all I wore was Bata, I already thought D&C is cr*p. Bought two pairs, then never again.

Shoe trees - I've seen spring loaded, full bodied wood trees at the shoe repair shops in Vivo and Plaza Singapure. Both also sell at about $60/pair if I remember right. I've also seen some less full versions in Muji for $45/pair. As mentioned above, if you can get friends together to order at least 5 pairs, buying online from Bexley is a great option.

Cream/Wax/Conditioner - I get creams from shoe repair shops. The MasterFix chain should have Collonil cream which is good. Dasco is a good brand overseas, have seen this in Pedro shops, but I haven't tried it myself. For wax, you can get Kiwi which is available anywhere.

I get my Saphir stuff from chelseashoerepair on ebay. Good prices and reasonable shipping. Edetal also has Saphir, but I'm not sure how much he charges.

Ed et Al charges $25 for the renoveuteur, and they just had new stock in.

Think they have other products? But I doubt the full range though?

Not alot of people in Sg know how to really take care of their shoes.

Not alot of people in Sg own shoes worth caring for.

not alot of people will care to look at other peoples shoes in the first place. Maybe guys may take a second look if they care abt shoes. Do girls or your boss even look at guy's shoes?? people usually look at your top first, your face, your hair, your spec, your shirt, then lastly maybe shoes, if they even bother at all... :D

The clever girls know where to look lah. The watch and shoes are good indicators.

Reno is for conditioning. Post-conditioning, Wax or creme for the actual color maintenance.

oh really? arctuates, i think you are quite an experienced old bird with girls? Your watch, unless you are wearing a short-sleeve, else nobody can see what watch you are wearing. And shoes, quite frankly, all look the same, whether cheap or expensive. No meh? :s11:

There's a stark difference between a pair of shoes bought from Aldo, Topshop or whereever to those that are better.

One look and you can tell the difference, that's what differantiate the class between men.

Problem is who & how many can tell the difference or really cares, maybe except for those who have a big self-ego and really needs to prove to themselves that they are from a different class (or pretending to be from a different class)? Frankly, is there really such a need to be so self-obssessed?

I honestly think the glasses and watch do make a difference. Both subconsciously affect how others perceive you, especially glasses. As for shoes, paying more actually has a practical purpose, if you know what you are looking for. Price usually equates to longevity for welted shoes, but it has been discussed on this thread so many times already.

Hmmm actually if you are talking about quality here, im not so concerned about how long the shoes can last. To me, im more concerned how comfy the shoes can bring to my feet. My left toe has a corn (left feet larger than the right), as such bespoke shoes maybe could alleviate the friction and bring more comfort, at the same time customising my shoes to be broader and longer and wider actually could possibly make my feet more breathable for the entire day. So, if my new shoes can make me feel comfy, i am okay with spending $500. Lets see in a few weeks' time when i collect my new shoes. But definitely not spending more than that amt. Becos im too lazy to really take good care of shoes. Or maybe i just couldnt be bothered to.

As for glasses, sg people cant really be bothered much abt them. Most like to wear contact lenses or lasiked it away. No real luxury glasses here. Maybe some other countries, like hk?

Nope. I've had compliments on both my watch and shoes, from both girls as well as guys. Shoes more so than watch, since it's very obvious when a person takes care of his shoes, especially relative to most Singaporeans.

If we are just talking about appearance...

I agree that good shoes can easily make you stand out, since most shoes here suck. BUT I highly doubt ppl really pay attention to your shoes precisely because they expect to see crap every time they look down.

I really think ppl look at your glasses and watch though. Glasses are on your face, for Christ's sake. They can dramatically change your appearance. Same for watches, but to a lesser extent. After all, my watch is my most complimented item.

PS: if there are no luxury eyewear brands here, the HWZ specs thread must be an illusion.

Taking care of personal grooming is a basic trait of a high value men - and by high value, we are not talking about wealth or looks, just own sense of well-being and being the best you can be.

Shoes is an important part of grooming - whether or not ppl usually notice it or not (fact is most girls notice it - more so than watches).
