Working Shoe for Young Exec

I realised my zara shoes the heels are made of like cardboard so after wearing for awhile, it starts to get chipped off and can be quite ugly if you stand behind me I think.

Where do I go to replace the heels and what kind of material should I ask the cobbler to replace it with? I want something that doesn't chip and is not made out of cardboard glued together...

Also, I am keen to buy shoes online, but I am afraid I get the wrong size, cause I do have shoes that I bought from other shops that can vary up to 1 size... So how do I accurately measure my shoe size?

Don't forget to remove VAT cost, which is a discount of 15-20% depending on county/state.

1 size difference... are you comparing US to UK sizes?

If you are getting Barker, Loake or Herrings, you can use try and Loake shoes at Robinson as reference.
You should also wear socks and trace an outline of your foot and measure the length and width and check with the online store with these measurements.

Yes, a good pair of leather shoes can cost but if it last you for 10 years or more....I still have a pair which is almost 20 years old...hahahahaha. I bought it when I was a teen and I am still wearing it.
Remember, no matter how good your leather shoes are when you soak in under heavy rain. It is pretty much game over.
Especially in Singapore, the downpour can be a killer.
The humidity will give the leather shoes another hit......moldy.

Prevention is better than cure. So do not walk with leather shoes in the rain. A splash here and there is fine. Anyway, if your favorite pair of leather shoes are damage. There is an excuse to get a new pair...hahahahahha. My reason to constantly get myself a new pair is I am lazy to put on a new heel...hahahhahah

For cost you can refer to herringshoes website i paid gst for it too lol but shipping is free and took 3 days by DHL very impressed by the speed. My first pair of proper shoe decided to just give it a shot I used the promo code to get the cedar shoe tree also. I camped on this thread for a long time before pulling the trigger so replying as much is the least I could do to share

Uncle says: protect the leather (i assume not suede) with cream and wax before wearing the first time.

No need to put rubber sole yet. Need the learher sole to wear out a bit then can glue something on or else no grip for the glue. After wear and tear then can tell where your feet strike when walking.

Uncle says: if there is some protection, soak a bit will not die. Even if caught in ponding do the following steps.

Stuff newspapers into the wet shoe and absorb the inside water, keep changing the newspaper till cannot absorb. Do not put near heat source, the leather need to slowly dry out.

To avoid cracks, nourish with cream before the leather completely dries out. This will darken or stain the leather but its better than having cracks.

I do this on purpose for patina on my natural leather belt

For me I use clean my new shoes with Saphir Renovateur then a coat of polish and buff shine before wearing them.

I am thinking to Topy my shoes after a few near slips. Read that Topy lasts longer than Vibram. Found that Kips N Kwik in Junction 8 has both Topy and Vibram

You should never use renovateur for new shoes, it's is not used to shine a shoe! It's for you to remove build up of shoe polish
