Oh you are talking about that... didn't catch it.

IMO, shoes should be resoled by the manufacturer. You will never know the proficiency of other cobblers for more complex processes, and they don't have experience with the different lasts out there. I would think the shoes will fit differently when they come back from cobblers.

Authentic. "reasonably-priced" is in quotation marks because it'll still be freaking expensive, and I'm unfamiliar with the going rate for such shoes. Is below 500 bucks ridiculous?

From what i've seen and with some industry insights, the skins alone will cost you about 3-500, depending on grade and types of exotics - gator, croc, caiman etc. Retail wise, your looking at easily above S$900.

I don't mind paying any price, as long as I get what I pay for.

You certainly don't get what you pay for when you get Pedro. Hush puppies seem better. Why I recommend Bata is because their quality (for some models) is at least on par with these other 2, but priced lower AFAIK.

Reason? Bata's brand name is doomed with the Buy-And-Throw-Away tag stuck to it. So they can only offer functional quality instead of brand name prestige to boost their prices. Damn sad for them, if you ask me.

If anybody is interested in having their shoes resoled. I'd highly recommend B Nelson.

Used to use them, and the shoes literally come back new. That picture below is no photoshop trickery. It even looks like my shoes. I sent them a beat up pair of Alden Norwegians in black, and it came back like in the second picture.

He mentioned he can do leather resoling as well. But instead of replacing the entire sole, he will cut off about half of the sole and stitch in a new one. This is cos he said usually the part of the sole closest to the heel doesn't touch the ground, so no need to replace that.

Haha, not sure how it will look after it's done.

He can do for Goodyear welt and hand stitch back?

Affordable and look decent is quite about the only description I can find for Pedro.

As for comfort and lasting, I think it depends on the wearer. I for one never found them to be able to last. 1 year max.

BATA actually has a long an illustrious history of providing well made and affordable shoes.

Saw this yesterday night, might suit those on a budget below $100. Probably a better buy than Pedro, though you get less choices in terms of colour / design.

As a Czech Republic brand hq now in Switzerland their biz model maybe just stick to be real affordable and only focus on expending in emerging markets.

Anyway for info, the Woodlore Epic Twin Tube Shoe Tree size M states it is for size US9.5 to 10.5 (EU 42 to 44, UK 9 to UK 10).
However I find it to be not as accurate based on some bros who has approached me to purchase the new spare size M shoe trees I am selling.

A bro tried on his Ed Et Al size 43 and it is too small and another UK 10 also find it small. It could be due to the lasts of the shoes but personally I would recommend size M to those wearing EU 41 to 42 or UK 8.5 to UK9.5 (EU43 and UK10 it is better try as its risky)

the bata ambassador range uses very very lousy corrected grain leather. think after 1 month of moderate wearing sure peel/flake off. go take a look
