In your opinion, how many people do you think notice your nice shoes? Can they tell the difference between a typical $100 shoe and the shoes you wear?

I am not snobbish enough to want people to know I'm wearing good shoes.

What's more important is that I get comfort walking in them for more than 10hours a day.

Probably no one will notice. I started out buying better shoes simply because I think they last longer. My first pair is kinda ugly.

Everything you buy is probably to feed your ego anyway. If you want to brag, you need that huge logo of a well known brand.

As far as I know, most well known shoe brands from Italy, UK or Japan don't engrave their logos on the uppers. It's mostly on the insoles or soles of the shoes.

Most of us who post on this thread will likely observe and be intrigued by seeing nice shoes (nice being subjective) and with some experience, yes, one can discern certain features that are marks of a quality shoe.

That said, i m pretty sure most of us choose to wear 'nice' shoes not because we want others to know its expensive.

True, but the reason i even came here was the result of reading a book that recommends shoes brands like J&M, AE and others for their comfort, quality build and offering of service for shoe recrafting.

Also, for those who are not interested in putting topy/vibram soles and prefers to have the raw feel instead of putting rubber over it

Been trying to find someone who would still do these for the past one year and found out last week that the cobbler in International Plaza has it for just $5 a pair.

$5 is damn cheap for the steel toe cap.

Question. Isn't it supposed to flush? Or we can ask them to sand away that area and install steel the top cap?

Well... I don't think the cobbler's going to bother to sand the sole such that the taps sit flush for $5. I was expecting it to cost at least $12 or more initially for them to just nail these plates/taps in.

As the leather sole around my toe tip area has receded quite a bit due to wear so the taps definitely sits more flush than if they were installed when the soles were unused. Also, there's no metal tapping sounds (a la NPCC marching) when I'm walking around unless I tap on the floor with the tip of my shoes on purpose.

However, you could try asking him to do so by offering to pay more? Let us know if it works out?

The cobber bua my leather to make the rubber sunken and flushed with sole. Damage $12

Mine pokes up abit too. But after more wears, I find that it slowly flushes out.

It pains me to see the cobbler anyhow whack the branded shoes and mistreated the soles when they add a protective rubber .

I am using Tarrago and imho if U want to spend more than kiwi but under Saphir its a great option.
