Out of curiosity, how many work shoes do you guys have?

Lai liao lai liao someone posed the question. I have 16 work shoes and that works out to 8 pairs!

alvin has several pairs i believe, mostly from meermin, atelier llyr i think and the loake semi-brogues, if u track his shoes buying chronicles.

Edit since the rest v detailed:
2 black captoe oxfords
1 dark brown captoe oxfords
1 burgundy captoe oxfords
1 mahogany semi brogue oxfords
1 tan penny loafer
1 black single monk
1 dark brown double monk

joke aside, i have about 6 pairs for now in a mixture of black oxford captoe, Brown DM, Tan LWB, Brown suede PTB, grey derby boot and burdundy oxford semi brogue. For add on in the future will try to get a balanced mix of oxford and derby... The rest like penny loafer and tassel loader will not be counted as dress shoe....

just to share info with the people here, I managed to resole my shoe at arcade for 19 dollar, i was quite pleased with the service. He helped me to resole even when he was about to close shop . But i was quite shock that he sort of like "staple" the heel after the gluing process. Any bro with resoling experience care to share whether their shoe heel were also stapled when they resoled?

Not advisable. have you seen how the cobbler add a protective rubber sole?
they use a machine to grind part of the sole to make the leather sole rough
and then apply a layer of glue to it.

the grinding will spoilt the leather and the stapling is not strong.

My PTB is quite true to the brown shade of shade in the last model you have posted. I guess the colour are quite true to their site.

I've been asking many diff people about meermin fit. What's your take compared with other brands u've tried? General feedback i've got is that they tend to be narrow (across lasts) and espec at the instep area leading to toe box

May u also ask how is snuff suede different from regular suede?

I have no problem with hiro, Ron and rui last. Olfe last instep run a bit lower on my right foot but that's still fine, still wearable....

Snuff might refer to either the colour or the type of suede. I believe in Meermin's case they're simply referring to a colour of suede as opposed to suede with a finer nap.

For those who aren't aware, Meermin uses split grain suede. But IMO, the suede still works well and durable enough for a casual shoe.

Generally its hard to compare across different brands but I have a low in step and narrow feet and I normally wear the New Rey for Meermin. They compare reasonably similar to my C&Js 348, and Carminas Simpson lasts.

Take note that I size up a half size for the New Rey. The olfe fits slightly wider with a slightly higher instep and more room in the toe box. Its fits quite similar to my Carmina Rain last. I take a UK6 for both. The olfe also fits similar to most of my AE shoes.

I'll try to take comparison pics soon.

Thanks. U r lucky in that it sounds like u ought to take most european lasts quite well as evidenced with the simpson and 348 (and u should take AS 109 quite well too). I m ur direct opp, wide feet + slightly high instep. Finding the right last that is not meant for country shoes is pretty tricky..
