I have no problem with hiro, Ron and rui last. Olfe last instep run a bit lower on my right foot but that's still fine, still wearable....

hi, is the olfe narrower compare to hiro and which one of your shoe is hiro? I have hiro for both black calf oxford and tan country calf dm and the dm wears more comfortable than the oxford since day 1.

Dm is a variant of open vamp shoes so u could get more space around the mid of your feet compared with oxfords. That maybe why the diff in comfort level.

Wow, looks like most here spend more than 1k on shoes...

For me, just 4 pairs.
Black full brogue
Navy suede blucher
Reddish brown adelaide
Reddish brown wingtips

Been reading different sections of this thread as I am thinking of getting a pair of black leather shoes for office. I see some high end shoe brands like Alden, C&J etc being thrown around and it appears none of these have shops in Singapore where I can try them on. I don't mind paying in the $300+ range if I am convinced of their value.

So if I am looking for the following what is the best choice:
1. Full grain leather - black of course
2. Goodyear welted - Re-solable as I want to use for years. I like leather that has broken in and conformed to my feet,
3. Preferably comfortable enough to walk about 2km to 3km a day as I enjoy walking a distance to work. Otherwise if it gives me ankle pain, I'll need to get a black walking shoe which is what I do now and swap it in office for a formal pair.
4. Able to try on, so online-only choices are out.
5. I don't mind ankle high boots eg Chelsea boots??
6. Durable stitching, I guess this should be inherent in most full grain Goodyear welted shoes?

Based on your requirements, I would recommend you to check out these local shoe maker that might meet your budget, Edetal, Atelier LLyr and diamond walker with the starting price of $295, $300 and $5xx respectively. Edetal and DW offer MTO serviec also but the cost goes up (around $600 onward iirc) . And once you have the correct size and fit, you can walk long distance if you wanted to...

What kind of heels do most have? I have a pair of red wings that have a leather sole but looks like wood(1st time I heard of it - seems like some dried compressed leather) that I like. Then there are the usual rubber sole of about 1/2 cm overlaying the wooden part below. I don't want the latter type because the rubber goes fast and once the wood is rubbing the road the whole sole has to go soon. Also the latter type walks with a "tok tok" sound like ladies shoes which I hate.

I'm waiting for my current dr martens to go before I get a new shoe.

Do you guys find that renovator kinda matts the shoes? After applying the cream and brushing it out, the shoe and the brush has a slight sticky texture that isn't very glossy. Or am I just putting too much cream?

I think it's normal for it to be "matt" as I experience that myself when I apply renovator. your suppose to use shoe cream or wax to achieve gloss/shine after application.
