I just came in to say that our usernames go along together very nicely. Apart from that, be careful about buying loafers online if you're unsure about your size.

Yeap! Am planning to get carmina, but decided to go for a cheaper alternative first like meermin before i actually get my pair of carmina. My size so far for my dress shoes are the same, so i'm hoping there won't be much of a difference for the sizing of meermin.

Generally, try to size down half for loafers. Yeah Carmina suede is very nice and worth the premium over Meermin imo. Unfortunately, both the Simpson and Uetam lasts seem to be bad for me.

hi guys, not sure if this shoe would fit the thread, but creating another thread just for it seems like too much trouble.

Anyway, am planning to get myself a green suede loafers:
Meermin Mallorca Handmade goodyear shoes

Would like to ask for comments as to what colour pants would go well with it.
I'm not a fan of jeans, and it's my first time stepping out of the safe colour for my shoes. so couldn't visualize as to what pants would go well with it.

So far, i have a navy pants, and a beige one.

I think the navy will go pretty well with green.
That being said, i think meermin has some pretty nice looking suedes. There is a pair of brown wholecuts from their Classic range that looks pretty sweet.
On a separate note, I'm expecting my carminas and meermins to reach me by tmr or this! Damn. Can't wait

It doesn't look exactly like that.. that's a photo sample of the effect on cotton.
But mine is on suede.. it sorta "bunches" up into like tiny "pills".

When I use a suede brush, I can brush the bits of suedes off the shoes, but there will always be those bits left.

this happens to woollen/cotten sweaters. there's something called a fabric shaver that can be used in those situations. might be workable for the shoe as well?

Don't worry.. Buy already doesn't fit, drop me a pm and sell me a reasonable price. My atelier size 39 wears larger than my carmina uk 6.5. Will drop a pic this weekend.

Btw, anyone can suggest where would be the best and most affordable place to purchase saphir wax polishes? Figured I need around 2 - 3 tins,

You couldn't have tried a UK9 at edetal cos they use EUR sizing (39, 40, 41 etc). What you tried was a size that a conversion chart told you works out to UK9, but unfortunately, those charts aren't always (and I would go so far as to say 'usually') accurate.

Have to understand your feet well. I would suggest u go try similar style loafers of a few more brands to get a feel (Loake at robinson's orchard, septieme largeur, church at MBS, KS at 55 Boat Quay). If you don't end up confused and able to achieve a pretty consistent sizing across diff brands, then it should be safe to pull the online trigger! And remember to give Daniel a heads up to tompang saphir stuff when that happens! hehe

2nd one (2 linea maestro) is now about 1.5 weeks in. Still not delivered yet
3rd one (linea maestro), if i receive my shoes tmr .... Took about 5 days.
Carmina i ordered direct from their website. If i also receive the shoes tmr ... took 5 days

If you do, do you get the topy done brand-new or after some wears (and how many wears would that be?).

To share my own experience, I do topy/vibram my shoes and usually do that after a few (usually less than 5) wears. It's just a personal preference, belief and experience that the topy/vibram prolongs life span of the forefoot area.

If you do, do you get the topy done brand-new or after some wears (and how many wears would that be?).

I don't topy for most of my leather shoes. Only 1 blake construction loafer was topy-ed.

i don't think it affects the longevity of my shoes by much it seems (my own experience).
